I took a week long leadership course at camp Robinson in North Little Rock, AR. One of the days consisted of a land nav course with various points in a 2 square mile grid. It one of my favorite days out there. Super fun stuff
I got all the points correctly but it was basic land nav, I am interested in more advanced navigation
I’m saying super basic land nav. Just pace setting and counting, military compass and map
Ah
Did you have to go through a lot of land nav for training
I use terrain association 99% of the time
We get a basic land nav class in basic training but when your in the real army you do a lot of land nav
Night land nav is always interesting because to not allowed to use a light only when kneeling down with a red light to see the map
That sounds frustrating as hell haha. I’m sure you’re pretty good at it then
I’m decent at it.
I’m comfortable doing it myself alone
Night or day
That’s a pretty good skill to have
It’s also a skill you can loose if you don’t practice it
You learn with one of these?
I picked it up after the class
Yep
Nice it already has a hole cutout and shaved edges
I rarely use my compass just map and protractor sometimes
Land nav is my shit
Yea the protractor helps a lot. I appreciate learning how to use but, but like you said it’s knowledge you can lose
I love it
@Jedimind11[XB1] haha we got two land nav all stars here
Just get the garmin GPS stuff haha
Garmin Foretrex 401 Waterproof Hiking GPS https://www.amazon.com/dp/B002EOSQII/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_P.iiEbGRQD0D3
I have one
Lmao
Garmin
I know like 10 kids who bought them straight out of AIT
Lmao
Bruh
90% of time were not even allowed to use them
Why?
How many times have I heard “no digital watches, phones, or garmins
Cuz privates, equipment fails
Gotta know how to do it without the equipment
Ah I get that no doubt
“Cuz privates.”
This is a good app
