2019-12-27 07:29:27 UTC

i knew i was forgeting something
i was missing chest seals

2019-12-27 07:30:40 UTC

Good ol chest seals. We like to slap them on people’s back

2019-12-27 07:30:53 UTC

Or take the sticky material off the seal and make a ball out of it

2019-12-27 07:31:00 UTC

lmao

2019-12-27 07:31:07 UTC

And throw them at each other

2019-12-27 07:31:11 UTC

Or light it on fire

2019-12-27 07:31:53 UTC

i just finished my companies first aid course a few weeks ago and am finally putting togeather a IFAK for my kit since i now actually know how to use the shit

2019-12-27 07:32:35 UTC

chest seals

2019-12-27 07:32:42 UTC

so are those like legit patches to cover a hole?

2019-12-27 07:32:49 UTC

Yes

2019-12-27 07:32:55 UTC

just stick and apply?

2019-12-27 07:32:57 UTC

They are for sucking chest wounds

2019-12-27 07:32:59 UTC

Yes

2019-12-27 07:33:02 UTC

huh

2019-12-27 07:33:09 UTC

cool stuff

2019-12-27 07:33:18 UTC

Sucking chest wounds can lead to bigger problem

2019-12-27 07:33:32 UTC

Like pneumothorax

2019-12-27 07:33:50 UTC

Which obviously can lead into an even worse tension pneumothorax

2019-12-27 07:34:17 UTC

Where you’d have to relieve the pressure off the collapsed lung with a NCD

2019-12-27 07:35:34 UTC

the way the teacher explained it to me correct me if i am wrong here is that the chest needs the negetive pressure to have the lungs expand and if there is a hole there the air goes in the area around the lungs throught the hole in the chest

2019-12-27 07:35:53 UTC

Yeah air gets in the plural space

2019-12-27 07:36:08 UTC

And if enough builds up puts pressure on the lung causing it to collapse

2019-12-27 07:36:22 UTC

Where a NCD would relieve the pressure in that cavity

2019-12-27 07:37:04 UTC

we also do other things like Chest tubes but there something you learn later on outside of the basic school.

2019-12-27 07:38:22 UTC

I wish I could learn this

2019-12-27 07:38:26 UTC

I might take a course

2019-12-27 07:38:33 UTC

You should.

2019-12-27 07:38:42 UTC

like, can you just privately pay for EMT courses?

2019-12-27 07:38:47 UTC

Yes

2019-12-27 07:38:51 UTC

Awesome.

2019-12-27 07:38:56 UTC

Because thats all it would be

2019-12-27 07:38:59 UTC

This would be more on the Paramedic level

2019-12-27 07:39:02 UTC

oh yea my work offered it to us because who would guess dangerouse things are dangerouse

2019-12-27 07:40:02 UTC

EMT-B aka EMT basic is the easiest cert

2019-12-27 07:40:20 UTC

O2 and transport. That’s what a EMT-B does lol
