Ok... What's the prevailing thought from this group on the police? I'm following a guy on Instagram, mainly to keep current tabs on what's happening in Virginia, and there have recently been some very anti-police comments made. I just hate the fact that the 2A movement seems to invite a lot of the people that give the left the ammunition they're wanting and needing, ie anti-government, anti-cop white supremacist types. Everyone is entitled to their beliefs, I just wish certain groups would be a little more strategic about expressing them..

2020-01-02 16:03:12 UTC

Probably because many believe that the cops will be enforcing the laws and putting you in jail

2020-01-02 16:03:54 UTC

Believing that they would value their paychecks and pensions over the 2A

2020-01-02 16:17:26 UTC

Theyre people just like us right up until theyre communists

2020-01-02 16:17:59 UTC

Thats their decision though

2020-01-02 16:23:57 UTC

I dont like cops to be honest

2020-01-02 16:24:20 UTC

Too much power given to individual officers

2020-01-02 16:24:53 UTC

Doesnt matter if the majority are good, all it takes is one bad officer to cause an immense amount of harm.

2020-01-02 16:25:08 UTC

And that fact makes me distrustful of them

2020-01-02 16:25:36 UTC

Same

2020-01-02 16:25:43 UTC

I'm skeptical over any cop

2020-01-02 16:28:25 UTC

That said I dont pull any of that sovereign citizen bullshit.

2020-01-02 16:29:20 UTC

I'm polite as possible when pulled over and a majority of the time I've gotten off with warnings. And I haven't personally had bad experiences with police.

2020-01-02 16:45:52 UTC

Im from a small town and deal with most of them, soy viewpoint is a little different than some.

2020-01-02 16:46:19 UTC

But I toe the line and avoid breaking too many laws.

2020-01-02 16:49:33 UTC

I have my had any bad experiences with police myself. I’m always polite and respectful and they’ve always treated me the same

2020-01-02 17:16:10 UTC

Yeah I try to avoid unnecessary confrontations too

2020-01-02 17:16:37 UTC

I also have the thought of them realizing they’d be turning their personal guns in as well.

2020-01-02 17:17:10 UTC

And police In general is a broad scope

2020-01-02 17:18:23 UTC

Almost 1800 different police agencies in the US

2020-01-02 19:07:48 UTC

Thanks for your thoughts guys. I have a general respect for the police and am professionally closer to them than the average person and have even done some role playing for the US Marshalls. Just about every one would be the kind to not follow any confiscation order (which I honestly don't believe will ever happen, they'll nickel-and-dime our guns into uselessness with laws before the ever actually send police enmass to people's houses). And as Itcilis said, they'd have to give up there's as well!

Having said all that my support of the 2A trump's that of any agency coming to infringe on it!

Welcome @The_JBox

2020-01-02 23:59:01 UTC

they should only be pulling over extremely dangerous drivers and investigating actual crimes. the ones that do that have my respect but everyone else can suck it when they restrict rights

2020-01-03 00:55:49 UTC

Where I live the cops dont generally hang out on the side of the road hunting for speeders. Never see people pulled over too

2020-01-03 00:57:24 UTC

Now compare that to Virginia where the police fraternity or whatever it's called has lobbied tirelessly to keep I-64 going through Norfolk at 55mph, even though it is 4 to 5 lanes wide each way and is a major interstate thoroughway

2020-01-03 00:58:18 UTC

They do that because EVERYONE drives 70-74 on that road. So they can just pick whoever's to pullover if their numbers are low

2020-01-03 00:58:45 UTC

Its genuinely dangerous to drive the speed limit on that highway because everyone is doing 19 over

2020-01-03 00:59:08 UTC

The speed limit in my state interstates are 70 by default

2020-01-03 00:59:27 UTC

And the awesome thing about VA is if you hit 20 over its automatically a reckless driving ticket which HAS to go to court

2020-01-03 01:00:21 UTC

So the cops will follow a group of traffic going 70-74 and wait for one car in the group to stray up to 75 and then pull them over for reckless driving

2020-01-03 01:00:31 UTC

Wow

2020-01-03 01:00:36 UTC

Its fucking disgusting

2020-01-03 01:00:42 UTC

That’s ridiculous

2020-01-03 01:00:51 UTC

I fucking hate Virginia

2020-01-03 01:01:13 UTC

Happened to me actually

2020-01-03 01:01:25 UTC

Had to hire a lawyer to get it dropped down to speeding

2020-01-03 01:02:44 UTC

80 or above is also automatically reckless, so even if you are on a stretch of highway that is 70, they can pull you over for reckless foe just doing 10 over

2020-01-03 01:03:17 UTC

Meanwhile texas has 85mph limits and people doing 100

2020-01-03 01:04:30 UTC

Like who’s actually going to do 55 in a highway

2020-01-03 01:04:36 UTC

And that's the other thing the courts almost always drop the charges down to speeding, they just make you pay an arm and a leg to do it. It's pure revenue generation. Has nothing to do with safety
