It's the lawsuits that will ruin your life. Usually the criminal trials are not as big of a deal as long as it was just self defense

It's when the scumbag's family sues you that things usually get messy

If he lives too, you'll probably get sued

Best case for you is to sue the dude or his family as soon as possible for whatever. They probably wont have money to keep up a lawsuit against you.
