Alliance is busy with bulding Dyson Spheres

2019-01-07 20:45:15 UTC

only Americans are allowed to Manifest our Destiny

2019-01-07 20:45:38 UTC

everyone else needs to stay where they are and wait for us to get to them next

2019-01-07 20:45:51 UTC

they will go away as every major force before them

2019-01-07 20:46:08 UTC

nothing is ethernal

2019-01-07 20:46:10 UTC

I know, just meming

2019-01-07 20:46:23 UTC

I think America is probably as big as a nation can sustainably be, really

2019-01-07 20:46:32 UTC

like, geographically

2019-01-07 20:46:51 UTC

anything bigger and you get too thin-spread, it all falls apart in a century or two

2019-01-07 20:46:52 UTC

china is kinda big too

2019-01-07 20:47:04 UTC

Yeah, they’re doing good as well

2019-01-07 20:47:16 UTC

its not about the numbers but about cultural influence

2019-01-07 20:47:22 UTC

west is losing it

2019-01-07 20:50:32 UTC

Russia is the biggest, and they’ve been in a rut since the 1980s
Canada is second biggest, but they barely use half their land, and their population is smaller than California, so I don’t really count that
America is the third largest, and we’ve got the most well funded military in the world, but we also have zero local competition, so, maybe also not the best example
China is the fourth largest, and they split up and re-conquer each other every couple hundred years, call it a new dynasty, and move on
then you’ve got Brazil, which is basically just tropical Russia with more gangs
Australia, which is the same as Canada, low population and hectares of untouched land
and India, who can’t poo in loo

2019-01-07 20:50:59 UTC

So, I repeat:
America does big country the best, or at least the most sustainably

2019-01-07 20:52:22 UTC

Rome was the biggest western civilization

2019-01-07 20:52:28 UTC

it’s like with stars
bigger stars shine brighter, but they fall apart under their own weight relatively soon
small stars live longer, but they never burn as brightly
America is a big star, and has burned pretty well so far
BUT we’ve only stopped adding new territory in the past 120 years or so, so who knows where it’ll all go to next

2019-01-07 20:52:36 UTC

yeah, Rome is why I’m thinking about this

2019-01-07 20:52:37 UTC

and ahd the longest run

2019-01-07 20:52:38 UTC

Empires

2019-01-07 20:52:49 UTC

they *had* the longest run

2019-01-07 20:52:55 UTC

i’m talking about current competitors

2019-01-07 20:53:16 UTC

i’m mostly rambling, actually, if i’m completely honest

2019-01-07 20:53:25 UTC

Little sleepy, and just killing time before work

2019-01-07 20:53:33 UTC

America is the spiritual successor and 3rd incarnation of Rome tbh

2019-01-07 20:53:39 UTC

may we rule for 10,000 years

2019-01-07 20:54:42 UTC

Out of curiosity, who do you consider 2nd?

2019-01-07 20:54:52 UTC

I’m guessing either Napoleon or Britain

2019-01-07 20:56:29 UTC

Byzantine/Constantinople and the Anatolian based Roman empire. Its an iffy one i know because the greek anatolians always referred to themselves and though of themselves as legit romans, and they were in their own right, the empire had just evolved and they were legitimately the eastern half, but you know people tend to demarcate that as a sort of 2nd rome

2019-01-07 20:56:48 UTC

Eh, that’s fair

2019-01-07 20:57:15 UTC

and plus 3rd sounds cool it makes you feel like this time is the charm

2019-01-07 20:57:33 UTC

I feel like the Brits probably have the better claim to 3rd, then

2019-01-07 20:57:45 UTC

Former owners of the empire where the sun never sets

2019-01-07 20:58:08 UTC

now arguing over butter knife permits on an island the size of Michigan

2019-01-07 20:58:58 UTC

(although, if you consider the Queen’s “rule” over Canada and Australia, the sun still never sets)

2019-01-07 21:00:20 UTC

if democrats become majority in this country we will also have to bin the knife

2019-01-07 21:00:41 UTC

doubt

2019-01-07 21:03:08 UTC

you dont think if they had a chance to repeal the 2nd amendment they wouldnt?

2019-01-07 22:52:38 UTC

the recall in Australia was hard enough

2019-01-07 22:52:48 UTC

just imagine how that'd be in America

2019-01-07 22:53:30 UTC

gun control is a progressive thing it seems, where they will just introduce regulation after regulation until there are no guns left
