Soon I'll get my technician degree

2019-06-13 05:56:17 UTC

We played hard, worked hard, always had shit equipment but in the regular army we outdo a vast majority of infantry units in proficiency

2019-06-13 05:56:32 UTC

Ahhh don’t be a tanker lol.

2019-06-13 05:57:09 UTC

They’re deathtraps. One EFP will cut through that hull like butter

2019-06-13 05:57:44 UTC

Older tanks maybe

2019-06-13 05:57:56 UTC

Modern tanks, difficult

2019-06-13 05:57:57 UTC

I’ve seen Abrams coded out man

2019-06-13 05:58:34 UTC

The abrams is great for force on force. Not so much when you’re fighting an insurgency

2019-06-13 05:59:02 UTC

True

2019-06-13 05:59:14 UTC

Fucking TOWs too

2019-06-13 05:59:27 UTC

Those shits are scary

2019-06-13 05:59:36 UTC

The only advice I give young people is choose something that will benefit you when you get out.

2019-06-13 06:00:41 UTC

Turns out being a bomb hunter and demo guy is a niche market on the outside lol. I lucked into the job I had now after like 3-4 years of struggling and hating life because the best paying job I could find was driving a semi

2019-06-13 06:01:10 UTC

The thing about TOWs is you have to keep LoS on the target.

2019-06-13 06:01:23 UTC

Got confused

2019-06-13 06:02:02 UTC

Ya mean being a combat engineer was a good or bad thing to find a job later?

2019-06-13 06:02:21 UTC

It definitely didn’t do me any favors

2019-06-13 06:03:32 UTC

If I were you I’d do something with computers. The army basically trains you to an associates degree in the IT field. You get your security+ and network+ certs

2019-06-13 06:03:55 UTC

Or do something in the intel field. Get a TS clearance and make big bucks when you get out.

2019-06-13 06:04:59 UTC

Going around killing bad guys and breaking their shit is fun, but there’s not a lot of work for that when you get out

2019-06-13 06:05:16 UTC

Yeah

2019-06-13 06:05:59 UTC

But I don't see myself messing up with computers

2019-06-13 06:06:27 UTC

Maybe I'm too dumb and/or hard headed

2019-06-13 06:06:27 UTC

Lol I’m just giving you examples

2019-06-13 06:07:16 UTC

There’s plenty of MOS’s that can translate into civilian jobs

2019-06-13 06:07:38 UTC

I highly encourage you to do research on your own too

2019-06-13 06:07:50 UTC

Yea yeah lol

2019-06-13 06:07:57 UTC

I really need to

2019-06-13 06:09:44 UTC

And a piece of advice for you. Settle on what you want before you walk into the recruiting station. All recruiters hate their jobs. They have a short list of MOS’s they need filled and will try to get you to sign up as one. Don’t do it. If they give you attitude walk out and wait a couple of days. They’ll magically call you saying “oh we worked it out and found you a spot for the job you want”

2019-06-13 06:11:08 UTC

Ohhhhh I heard that shit before

2019-06-13 06:11:27 UTC

Lol then now you know it’s verifiable

2019-06-13 06:12:07 UTC

Recruiters have the highest suicide rate of any MOS in the army. And it’s only a 2 year assignment before they go back to their old MOS

2019-06-13 06:12:12 UTC

Like the daughter of my father's wife, when she was trying to enlist the in the USAF

2019-06-13 06:12:35 UTC

So your stepsister

2019-06-13 06:12:38 UTC

Didn't know about that

2019-06-13 06:12:45 UTC

Yeah man it’s brutal

2019-06-13 06:12:59 UTC

Can't say stepsister

2019-06-13 06:13:00 UTC

USAREC is a terrible command to work for

2019-06-13 06:13:38 UTC

That's harsh

2019-06-13 06:13:58 UTC

It’s the truth though

2019-06-13 06:14:07 UTC

Yup
