Soon I'll get my technician degree
We played hard, worked hard, always had shit equipment but in the regular army we outdo a vast majority of infantry units in proficiency
Ahhh don’t be a tanker lol.
They’re deathtraps. One EFP will cut through that hull like butter
Older tanks maybe
Modern tanks, difficult
I’ve seen Abrams coded out man
The abrams is great for force on force. Not so much when you’re fighting an insurgency
True
Fucking TOWs too
Those shits are scary
The only advice I give young people is choose something that will benefit you when you get out.
Turns out being a bomb hunter and demo guy is a niche market on the outside lol. I lucked into the job I had now after like 3-4 years of struggling and hating life because the best paying job I could find was driving a semi
The thing about TOWs is you have to keep LoS on the target.
Got confused
Ya mean being a combat engineer was a good or bad thing to find a job later?
It definitely didn’t do me any favors
If I were you I’d do something with computers. The army basically trains you to an associates degree in the IT field. You get your security+ and network+ certs
Or do something in the intel field. Get a TS clearance and make big bucks when you get out.
Going around killing bad guys and breaking their shit is fun, but there’s not a lot of work for that when you get out
But I don't see myself messing up with computers
Maybe I'm too dumb and/or hard headed
Lol I’m just giving you examples
There’s plenty of MOS’s that can translate into civilian jobs
I highly encourage you to do research on your own too
Yea yeah lol
I really need to
And a piece of advice for you. Settle on what you want before you walk into the recruiting station. All recruiters hate their jobs. They have a short list of MOS’s they need filled and will try to get you to sign up as one. Don’t do it. If they give you attitude walk out and wait a couple of days. They’ll magically call you saying “oh we worked it out and found you a spot for the job you want”
Ohhhhh I heard that shit before
Lol then now you know it’s verifiable
Recruiters have the highest suicide rate of any MOS in the army. And it’s only a 2 year assignment before they go back to their old MOS
Like the daughter of my father's wife, when she was trying to enlist the in the USAF
So your stepsister
Didn't know about that
Yeah man it’s brutal
Can't say stepsister
USAREC is a terrible command to work for
That's harsh
It’s the truth though
Yup
