I guess it's an inheritance of my norse pagan forefathers. They too realized that it's meaningless to dwell on ones own eventual demise, because the Gods have decided our fates since before we were born.

I just apply the same line of thought to the species instead of only myself.

if your survival is threatend, if you have had to fight for your life, it tends to clarify things

few are fatalistic after such an experience

And I would fight for my survival, on a personal level. Not doing it would simply not feel good.

But I don't run around worrying what or who will end up killing me or when it will happen. It's immaterial to waste time thinking about it.
