Okay so before sleeping I was exploring the primal/dark "half" of the soul and searching for what animals are naturally close to the darker forces of existence and serve as symbols of them. I got roaches, snakes, bats, etc.
In the dream I was first-person riding a gray wolf through a temperate forest or just woodland, evading extremely large cockroaches. Each cockroach or chase segment came to a specific maneuver I had to make on the wolf, and another would replace it, increasing in difficulty each time. I finally got to the final maneuver to evade the last cockroach or last two cockroaches (the numbers fuzzy) and I failed it due to a misstep. I was knocked off the wolf and consumed basically. There was also a voice in the background of it all who was benevolent, like a trainer running a simulation. I was never really fearful or anything negative.
