ps4 controller is perfect to me. only the thumbsticks at the v.1.0 controllers melted. thats why i bought joystick caps at launch
The Red Ring actually was just the system overheating. The red ring was an indicator that told you some components on the motherboard automatically disconnected themselves because they got too hot. You could open up the system and reconnect them and it'd work again just fine. Until it ovreheated again. The internal airflow was shit and the fan was too weak.

The 360 worked way, way better if you attached a fan to it to help pull out hot air.

The PS3 had just as much problems with overheating as the 360. It just wasn't as infamous for it for whatever reason.
Both families vastly improved their cooling systems this gen.
Though the PS4's still is awkwardly in the back where most people are going to cover it up by shoving it it against something.
