Heard of Zelda Wiki?

2017-02-19 14:41:00 UTC

Yeah, that place.

2017-02-19 14:42:04 UTC

It was dead and dying in 2008. No one on its staff knew what the hell they were doing and the place was falling apart. I came in, vastly overhauled it, and shoved it beyond the rival Wikia wiki on Zelda and now it dominates in search results.

Some of the others got jealous of me and plotted to get rid of me. And made their move after I proposed forming a network of other independent Nintendo wikis. They got me kicked out and stole the idea for the network and went to Bulbapedia to form the network.

2017-02-19 14:43:57 UTC

...

2017-02-19 14:44:05 UTC

jeez

2017-02-19 14:44:27 UTC

jealousy is a wonderful thing, isn't it?

They still use the framework I built today. They have to because they still don't understand how to do any coding.

2017-02-19 14:47:26 UTC

I'm looking at the page now. It's well put together. What was it like before? 😐

2017-02-19 14:48:42 UTC

They've changed how some of it looks. But the vast majority of the coding it uses is mine.

2017-02-19 14:49:16 UTC

sue dem ez gaem

2017-02-19 14:49:35 UTC

it has ads that get past my adblock

2017-02-19 14:49:52 UTC

What have you done to try and get it back?

2017-02-19 14:49:59 UTC

I didn't.

2017-02-19 14:50:03 UTC

I made a rival wiki.

2017-02-19 14:50:25 UTC

Zeldapedia?

2017-02-19 14:50:31 UTC

Ew. No.

Zelda Dungeon Wiki. I haven't be able to get in edgewise in search results because we did too good with Zelda Wiki.

2017-02-19 14:51:34 UTC

I've actually seen that around.

2017-02-19 14:51:45 UTC

2017-02-19 14:51:54 UTC

Yeah, well that's mine. I made it and run it.

2017-02-19 14:51:59 UTC

jk

2017-02-19 14:52:22 UTC

Ah~ Internet history.

2017-02-19 14:53:22 UTC

if you were smorc you would haxded dem

2017-02-19 14:53:34 UTC

Short version:
It was poltical. The people at Zelda Wiki cared more about their personal power and glory than actually making a functional site. Anyone who knew what they were doing would find themselves removed because they'd have to tell the people in power that certain things couldn't be done or that they had to be done a certain way and the pride of those people wouldn't allow that.

2017-02-19 14:54:03 UTC

So it was like putting career politicians in charge of tech support.

2017-02-19 14:54:16 UTC

Ugh, tech support

2017-02-19 14:54:44 UTC

Or to have politicians run a server.

2017-02-19 14:55:12 UTC

They know nothing about how to do anything but have immense egos and think they know everything and won't hear any different, *or else*

2017-02-19 14:56:13 UTC

People don't like to hear the truth, for fear of their illusioms being shattered

2017-02-19 14:56:20 UTC

*illusions

2017-02-19 14:56:32 UTC

Zelda Wiki has continued this behavior today. They still place status and power over function and cooperation. Having a fluid, efficient team is considered less important than having authority over people who have to show you respect for your status.

2017-02-19 14:56:57 UTC

So it basically is a political party

2017-02-19 14:57:05 UTC

that's bs emma.

2017-02-19 14:57:25 UTC

as in that bullshit that happened to you.. not that i think your lying lol.

2017-02-19 14:57:36 UTC

uh oh don't respond they on dnd, edgy doe. 🍆 8

2017-02-19 14:57:44 UTC

Their only strength now is that they still have a solid search ranking. Other than that they barely hold together because you cannot have a functional team with that kind of "status is what's important" mentality.
