Aparently that was very recently announced. Here's the original story

ofcourse an american is the one to drive through gas pumps
Cheer up with this:

Chihuahuas are one breed of dog where it's exceptionally important to leash them or chain them up because they're suicidally overconfident and have zero environmental awareness and can easily get themselves killed.
This turns me on. http://i.imgur.com/oiFURex.gifv
quantum locking
supercooled magnet over a magnet track, you can lock it in almost orentation
cool
That's what we should be building.
An open are maglev train would work a hell of a lot better than that hyperloop bullshit.
Japan has made a lot of great progress with maglev trains.
wont work
requires too much energy to keep cool
not this exact tech anyway
With standard superconductors, yes.
It can work without superconductors though. Ordinary magnets work just fine.
The typical method is strong, permanent magnets on the train itself, and the track being electromagnets.
Trains built that way work very well.
Speeding it up and slowing it down is done by the electromagnets in the track. They alternate current to switch between pushing and pulling.
Superconductors are only really sensible for smaller scale stuff and until we find better ones, would never work for anything full scale.
AWESOME
