I tried at McDonalds seven times.

2017-04-06 13:15:30 UTC

And when I heard anything at all, it was thta I didn't have enough experience in the food service industry.

MCDONALDS, the place people joke about as your bottom of the barrel, last resort job, thought they were too good for me.

2017-04-06 13:17:18 UTC

I always checked in. I often got promised they'd call back. No one did. And no, i didn't "screw up" the interview. I was rejected before getting one every time.

2017-04-06 13:17:54 UTC

I was not making mistakes in my application or resume either. I had professional help for years.

2017-04-06 13:18:27 UTC

I uaed to work as a cashier at a gas station. I really liked it. Back then the minimum wage was like $3.65 an hour, so I worked like 60~80 hours a week.

emma

2017-04-06 13:19:12 UTC

I can't work for minimum wage. The way the government disability benefits work, you're actually punished for working for too little. Putting you in a worse financial situation.

2017-04-06 13:19:15 UTC

got to college and get aa certification for something

2017-04-06 13:19:25 UTC

I have to make signifcanlty more than minimum to just break even with what I get now.

2017-04-06 13:19:26 UTC

there literally a few weeks to 2 month courses out there

2017-04-06 13:19:44 UTC

2017-04-06 13:19:51 UTC

2017-04-06 13:19:55 UTC

2017-04-06 13:19:57 UTC

I cannot afford even that.

2017-04-06 13:20:04 UTC

not even 200?

2017-04-06 13:20:11 UTC

Nope.

2017-04-06 13:20:31 UTC

I usually have $50 left a month after bills and necessary living expenses.

2017-04-06 13:20:42 UTC

Or less

2017-04-06 13:20:47 UTC

jesus

2017-04-06 13:20:51 UTC

save it?

2017-04-06 13:20:55 UTC

Can't.

2017-04-06 13:21:05 UTC

The glory of government benefits won't let you.

2017-04-06 13:21:12 UTC

split it?

2017-04-06 13:21:20 UTC

If you save it, they assume you don't need as much as you're getting and they lower your amount you get.

2017-04-06 13:21:36 UTC

i used to make 8.25 i never spent it ever, only on my phone idk your situation though so i cant rlly say much

2017-04-06 13:21:41 UTC

The whole thing is rigged to keep you trapped in it

2017-04-06 13:22:02 UTC

i ended up saving 1500

2017-04-06 13:22:12 UTC

lost it all bc someone stole it from me

2017-04-06 13:22:46 UTC

If you save money, you're punished, if you get an entry level job, you're punished. If you try to get and education, you're punished.

2017-04-06 13:23:11 UTC

then i worked again for 12.50 at a warehouse made 4,000. spent it on schooling for myself got another job certified it was a 3 day course then here i am now trying to fuckin survive and repeat the process to be a vet tech

2017-04-06 13:23:15 UTC

People bitch about the "lazy" people living off benefits but honestly it's a nightmare being on them.

2017-04-06 13:23:27 UTC

You have zero economic freedom and you can forget college.

2017-04-06 13:23:30 UTC

its true u do get punished one way or another

2017-04-06 13:23:51 UTC

Can you do stuff like answer ads in the paper for babysitting, dog walking, pet sitting, things that you'd get paid in cash and the govt wouldn't know about so you could get a little extra money?

2017-04-06 13:23:59 UTC

^^

2017-04-06 13:24:01 UTC

No.

2017-04-06 13:24:05 UTC

That's fraud.

2017-04-06 13:24:11 UTC

If they found out you'd be in deep shit.

2017-04-06 13:24:12 UTC
