Agreed, but letting our Troops actually engage and defeat an enemy in open combat in and of itself is a hell of a recruitment tool, part of the reason the numbers are low is because they've taken the teeth from the American service men

you have seen the state of the British armed forces, all of them are doing horribly in recruitment

Part of the problems the Brits have always had, at least in the past 50 years or so, is that it's become business as usual for your Military. America/Russia/China are always wagging their dicks center stage, you guys are just tending to business as usual. Part of the problem with being in a position of comfort, it breeds a sense of complacency amongst the populace and causes the ranks to thin.
