I just think this tweet is stupid, because it provides no context and relies on you knowing about McCain's military history and that news of his death was announced at around the time this was tweeted. This tweet it gonna bite him in the ass before the end of the year.
Bechtloff even agrees that this was clumsy.
It will be all too easy for his enemies to reframe this as an anti-military tweet.
He's making a general statement about soldiers w/o necessary context, whereas people knew and still know the context of Trump's dig at McCain.
