Something I’d also like to see addressed is ammunition capacity, although not by me; I have no solution.

The M1 Garand and M14 were standard service rifles of the United States army for a good many years, and the M14 is still in use today by certain sects of the Marines, I believe. Now, these are powerful rifles, they both fire 7.62x51 ammunition (depending on the model of M1), and are semi-automatic, though the main difference I’ve seen between the two is ammunition capacity; the M14 can take a magazine, the M1 Garand cannot. The M14 holds 20 rounds in a detachable box, the M1 Garand holds only 8.

In Canada, the M1 Garand is an exception to the “five rounds for semi-autos” law, and allowed to hold the full 8 rounds, and with quite a quick reload, is very deadly, very fast, with Jerry Michulek being capable of firing a round every 0.1 seconds, just about as fast as anyone could pull the trigger.

The M14 however, is not an exception to this rule, it must have 5 rounds, and 5 rounds only, increasing the number of reloads, and decreasing the shots down-range in the same amount of time as the M1 Garand.

There’s also weapon shape to take into account. The AR-15 and the Mini-14 are fundamentally identical in their firing sequence and ammunition, however no one is as uppity about mini-14s as they are AR-15s, mainly due to its looks. The same can apply to the aforementioned M1 Garand and M14; they look like hunting rifles, but are similar to any semi-auto capable rifle that fires 7.62x51mm ammunition.

Hell- theoretically, a group of people could tear through a school with bolt-actions and Bayonets, and cause massive casualties; they, bolt-action rifles, were the standard for many nations through the end and even after the second world war! The Red Army’s Mosin, the British and Canadian Lee Enfield rifle, the German Karbiner, these were weapons used on the battlefield and capable of killing quite quickly.

I’m not quite done.

How would you justify banning certain semi-autos without banning all semi-autos (including hand-guns, by the way). Then what about bolt actions modded for close-range combat? Ever used an M44 Mosin in the Division with a red dot? Imagine the damage people could cause with those things.

Banning guns for the public is a rabbit hole of pointlessness; criminals will get them either way, they’ll go to other things if they have to, and what you don’t think should be banned can still cause damage. The answer is therefore not a ban on certain guns, or in fact any guns at all, it is a drastic change in the way guns are taught to be used, analyzing who is buying them, and whether or not they even intend to shoot the gun; some may wish to have a collection for the sake of a collection, or historical firearms.

2018-03-15 04:21:28 UTC

And what about SMGs?

2018-03-15 04:22:47 UTC

You see how far this shit could go in categorizing what’s to be banned yet?

Instead of following these rabbit holes to their fullest like I almost did and banning guns, change the culture around the guns and enforce firearm responsibility.

For giving an educated input on the matter

2018-03-15 04:51:16 UTC

That’s nothing you can’t find with a 30-second google search, I hardly call it “educated.”

2018-03-15 04:52:14 UTC

If anything, it’s Reductio Ad Absurdum (spelling?) at it’s finest with a couple of statistics and weapon models thrown in for good measure

2018-03-15 05:12:04 UTC

Awfully humble but it's educated when you compare to individuals who cannot seem to deliver the difference between a semi-automatic and fully automatic or identify how a bump stock works

2018-03-15 05:12:17 UTC

A what?

2018-03-15 05:13:45 UTC

I’m gonna be honest; I don’t know much about rail mods beyond sights and flashlight laser pointers, let alone intricate grip and stock mods.
