Well if you’re certified, there is a normal amount you get paid, the reason therapists are so pricy, is that’s what the industry set for price

I live in the US and am below the poverty line and was referred to a number of clinics that offer a sliding scale for people who can't afford therapy depending on income.

here Psychiatry is free
