Opinion: the Clone Troopers and Storm Troopers should have their names and canon reversed to better fit the model of the German Empire and the Third Reich because Storm Troopers or “Sturmtruppen” in German were a classification of Soldiers in World War One long before the rise of the Nazi Reich and phased out of the German army when the war ended in 1918 so the Empire being modelled after the Nazis means they shouldn’t even be thinking of storm troopers

The Sturmtruppen in World War One were the soldiers who were trained specifically for raiding trenches, and they were the first ones to wear the Stahlhelm rather than the Pickelhaube. At the end of the war and the deconstruction of the German army into a barely-adequate defence force, they had already been phased out into the general army

As far as World War II is concerned, the only ones who called any soldiers in their army Shock Troops were the Soviets, first deploying them at Stalingrad and using them all the way to Berlin. There were Yogoslavian Partisans that called themselves shock troops, but they were not the German Wehrmacht.

The only reason I’m even thinking about this is because Lily Orchard went over Star Wars for a bit in her Stephen Universe video to demonstrate a point about Stephen Universe having no depth to demonstrating how the Diamonds are Tyrannical. When she did so, she said that the fascist elements of the Empire were all surface level such as marching in step, the soldiers being called Storm Troopers, and the faction having their own stupid salute.

I took particular issue with the comment about the Storm Troopers because the terminology has nothing to do with the Third Reich in the context of being modelled after the Nazis and it’s an insult to soldiers of the German Empire that fought in World War One.
