My internship doesn't pay me, but the writing is fun so I don't mind as much. I'm getting $25 for the Honeysuckle article, and the SEO job fucked me over by paying me $6 per article. Luckily, I'll get a decent chunk of cash if my Times article is published and it'll kickstart my writing career.
@Yoni Wickeroni I'm okay, surviving haha
I've had so little sleep the past week that my selfie looks like I got punched in the face, which hasn't happened in over a year since I stopped boxing.
Some pretty epic bags
You look good, a lot better than me when I wake up and looking like a Dreadlord
That sucks though. But job situation in the country is generally rough I guess. Working full time minimum wage is barely liveable.
I want to try working on making money through commissions so I am trying to make a bunch of pieces to use as a showcase for it. I'm insecure about what I make though so it's making me sluggish. I gotta bite the bullet and go for it though.
I've already done a bit of graphic design work though. T-shirt designs. Only commissions I've done so far
Attempting to make a living as any kind of artist is so fucking draining sometimes, well, most of the time.
If I could just get paid to write and make enough to live, I'll be set. It's just getting to the point where my work is even semi-respected that's killing me
I've been published a few times, but it's just not enough because the publications and companies just weren't big enough for me to gain any clout
Yeah writing seems a bit nerve wracking to me. At least with visual art you dont worry about people attacking your own thoughts on things lol.
Yep. And it's even harder with this article for Honeysuckle because it's about race, and I literally have no idea what race I am, but I'm usually seen as a white guy
I wanna discuss this but it's early in Europe and I am being dragged to bed, so I hope you all have a good evening! ❤
You look kinda hispanic to me, but still pretty white I guess.
A white guy talking about race is a dangerous place to put yourself
G'nite
G'night
@tofu lol
Yeah, I've gotten that a lot. I've also been told that I look like my cousin whose dad is black and mom is white more than my own parents
I have a couple friends who are half hispanic who look pretty similar to you. But I see what you mean. With social politics it's rough. There's ALWAYS going to be dissenters who refuse to accept your opinion IRONICALLY because of your skin lol
My parents are as white as white can get
Right lmao
Hey man it could have skipped a generation
*Them bean genes be sneaky*
I used to do landscaping and everyone thought I was Puerto Rican because I didn't really burn
Also true
Idk what race I am either. I look white, so that's all that really matters. But my mom kina doesn't.
Kinda*
My mom's been mistaken as inuit, asian, hispanic, and black.
Same
She's not even dark skinned really
Well, not asian
She just has textured hair
Same
It turns into an afro if she's in Florida. Any less humidity and it's just really wavvy. But it feels like horse hair. Suuuper course. She has to use "ethnic" hair products
Her adoption papers say italian/irish but none of us really buy it
Same. White people hair products fuck my hair up
I'm really glad I didn't get her hair. Her hair looks great, don't get me wrong. But it seems like a lot of work.
Of course mine is already graying
