A nation's entire army wouldn't be needed to conquer one African country.

2019-09-17 16:49:01 UTC

HMMMM

2019-09-17 16:49:19 UTC

That really varies from country to country

2019-09-17 16:49:28 UTC

Is this just one part of africa or the whole damn continent? Because I could of swore this was implying continental size

2019-09-17 16:49:30 UTC

Also ^

2019-09-17 16:49:39 UTC

The East African militaries are definitely better than the Central African militaries for one

2019-09-17 16:49:47 UTC

I.e. Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda, etc.

2019-09-17 16:50:13 UTC

Bur central africa also has shit tons of just either plains or raw jungle which would have to be processed

2019-09-17 16:50:27 UTC

There's also a shit-ton of cheap Soviet surplus concentrated especially there

2019-09-17 16:50:42 UTC

Either that or you would have to face against places like sudan who all they know are fighting and would most likely team up against foreign invaders

2019-09-17 16:51:20 UTC

Not to mention the Sudanese now have the extensive support of the Arab League since their recent coup

2019-09-17 16:51:38 UTC

Coastline would be easier but considering the stability of africa whats not to say other coastal nations then attack you to try to get more resources as they see the invaded country as weak now

2019-09-17 16:52:38 UTC

The problem with many African militaries is that they're primarily intended to be domestic policing forces

2019-09-17 16:52:56 UTC

True.

2019-09-17 16:53:20 UTC

And the ones that arent are usually in a constant state of fighting warlords. But that goes back to the eariler point

2019-09-17 16:53:57 UTC

This isn't the case for the North or East African militaries who are very capable of projecting power beyond their borders

2019-09-17 16:54:05 UTC

Which countries lol

2019-09-17 16:54:16 UTC

Execpt liyba rip that place

2019-09-17 16:54:23 UTC

The only ones I can think of off the top of my head are the Congo and Somalia and those are being wrapped up

2019-09-17 16:54:35 UTC

True I guess Im thinking of the 70-80

2019-09-17 16:54:42 UTC

Actually, maybe not for Somalia because Al-Shabaab is yeeting Mogadishu

2019-09-17 16:54:51 UTC

Libya pretty sure is still a mess though

2019-09-17 16:54:55 UTC

Thanks mossad

2019-09-17 16:55:04 UTC

The Congolese insurgencies are strange

2019-09-17 16:55:15 UTC

They basically die down or become irrelevant within a decade

2019-09-17 16:55:19 UTC

The Congo is a battle royale.

2019-09-17 16:55:35 UTC

They've had like 3 Congo wars so far, the first two ones were major IIRC.

2019-09-17 16:55:37 UTC

So is it three kingdoms nog edition?

2019-09-17 16:55:43 UTC

The third one is just an insurgency

2019-09-17 16:56:10 UTC

Just invade the weakest African country. Then one next to that and so on for many years until you hold all the land you can get

2019-09-17 16:56:38 UTC

That seems like the best way to overextend your military and administration over territory you could just Jew out of the Africans

2019-09-17 16:56:56 UTC

Which African country do you even have in mind lol

2019-09-17 16:57:08 UTC

Angola was also a major clusterfuck

2019-09-17 16:57:20 UTC

The Portuguese were winning in Angola and Mozambique

2019-09-17 16:57:24 UTC

Fucking Cuban volunteers there as well.

2019-09-17 16:57:33 UTC

Portugal decided to pull out of Angola.

2019-09-17 16:57:37 UTC

Leaving South Africa to fight them.

2019-09-17 16:57:37 UTC

The only insurgency they really had a problem with was either in India or Guinea Bissau

2019-09-17 16:57:55 UTC

UNITA was also a problem for Angola.

2019-09-17 16:58:06 UTC

If the Portuguese wanted to hold onto their African holdings, they should've just carved out a state of predominantly Portuguese settlers

2019-09-17 16:58:13 UTC

Probably somewhere in the northern regions of Angola
