And it pretty much is the worst thing ever
A lot of people lost government mandated busy work.
These people also happen to make up the majority of the Russian boomer generation
Old factory workers who lost their jobs after the USSR fell
If you’re an authoritarian hmu and you can make me some new integrated circuits they’re only mildly toxic
They see the post-Soviet Era as an era of instability
Of economic downturn and corruption
Tbh this is best highlighted in that Pizza Hut commercial Gorbachev appeared in
In the commercial you have an old guy and another, younger one who is presumably his son, when they see Gorbachev enter the restaurant they start debating about his legacy
The older guy says "because of him, we have economic confusion, political instability, complete chaos" while the younger guy says "because of him we have opportunity, freedom, hope"
This gives great insight into what Russians think about the USSR
The older generations see the post-Soviet period as one of instability and chaos while the younger generations see it as one of opportunity and freedom
The beauty of authoritarians is once they give up their freedom you can do with them as you wish so long as you keep your interests in check in military and industry you can enslave millions and they’re in favour
Like just watch this commercial, the conversation those 2 people have sums it all up pretty well
"Rash B" "Cyka blyat"
It's also funny af
Y'all ever join a tournament and the odds are so lopsided

@lunemarie chess

I'm 20th.
you’re going to get fricked
Beyond fricked
We have titled players at the top
My first match is against a 2100
my best chess achievement was I once beat my maths teacher
Nice
To put it into comparison
A game between a 1600 (me) and a 1700
The 1700 would win 8 times outta 10.
At worst
lol
So yeaaaaah
