a bit off with ethics, asethetics and civics

2019-09-12 17:42:55 UTC

Random qs: does trickle down economics work?

2019-09-12 17:43:02 UTC

NO SUCH THING

2019-09-12 17:43:11 UTC

that is lefty propaganda phrase

2019-09-12 17:43:25 UTC

Figured as much, but the idea behind it

2019-09-12 17:43:27 UTC

imagine a world where the religion of the elites was objectivism instead of post modernism

2019-09-12 17:43:33 UTC

Does it still work?

2019-09-12 17:43:35 UTC

at no time did any right wing economist accept the term 'trickle-down'

2019-09-12 17:43:39 UTC

Yes, but a study has shown the intention of trickle down economics is best served by reducing the tax burden on lower income individuals.

2019-09-12 17:43:40 UTC

ever

2019-09-12 17:43:50 UTC

I forgot to put thr the " "

2019-09-12 17:43:54 UTC

Muh bad

2019-09-12 17:44:07 UTC

@Jeremy isee.

2019-09-12 17:44:16 UTC

Really, it's just a supply side reduction of tax-burden.

2019-09-12 17:44:23 UTC

Of course it works.

2019-09-12 17:44:25 UTC

Isee x2

2019-09-12 17:44:34 UTC

using the term 'trickle-down economics' is a trap because it is a stawman of a position that DOES have particular merits

2019-09-12 17:44:39 UTC

trickle down ecconomics is kind of a meme though

2019-09-12 17:44:44 UTC

yup

2019-09-12 17:44:45 UTC

It just works better when you're reducing the tax burden on the consumption side.

2019-09-12 17:44:49 UTC

oh fuck im aggreeing with godman again

2019-09-12 17:44:53 UTC

I actually found it used in a book I'm reading.

2019-09-12 17:45:12 UTC

So ub

2019-09-12 17:45:23 UTC

Indeed, @ManAnimal.

2019-09-12 17:45:26 UTC

the thing to realize is that the reduction of a tax burden only helps an economy that is comparmentalized from world markets

2019-09-12 17:45:43 UTC

So if you factor in the global market

2019-09-12 17:45:43 UTC

the money must be USED under the same gov umbrella

2019-09-12 17:45:47 UTC

It doesn't hold much?

2019-09-12 17:45:56 UTC

otherwise that extra money is used to fund forgein workers

2019-09-12 17:46:05 UTC

and buy cheap forgein goods

2019-09-12 17:46:18 UTC

tariffs are required to make that idea work

2019-09-12 17:46:52 UTC

It actually might work here then.

2019-09-12 17:47:03 UTC

conceptually you could make an effort to stratify the worlds culture and economics and then the compartment becomes the entire globe

2019-09-12 17:47:08 UTC

but thats utopian thinking

2019-09-12 17:47:13 UTC

No, it still reduces the amount of expendable income, if it's an imposition on the consumer side.

2019-09-12 17:47:26 UTC

it's an old argument i used to have with my conservative grandmother who was staunchly anti-union

2019-09-12 17:47:37 UTC

You can make up for it by opening markets, sure, importing foreign goods and services.

2019-09-12 17:48:16 UTC

Nonetheless, it's still that much less of an expendable income available to the rightful owner of the seized wages that're the byproduct of their labors.

2019-09-12 17:48:20 UTC

unions place pressure on industry making it less profitable and Clinton signs NAFTA so that companies can afford to pay workers more. once the tariffs are gone, those companies just move their labor abroad

2019-09-12 17:48:32 UTC

Unions are bad.
