It's a simpler system but growing up more with imperial has programmed me to be able to think in those measurements better if that makes sense

2019-09-07 22:45:35 UTC

Being around that system normalizes it to you

2019-09-07 22:45:40 UTC

It doesn't for I who was raised in metric system sorry :(

2019-09-07 22:46:18 UTC

Why is 1 yard = 1.6~ meters is beyond me.

2019-09-07 22:46:51 UTC

As long as we can convert measurements, we can understand each other though

2019-09-07 22:46:52 UTC

@Jun bad check in system they shoulda let you in....awesome im guessing Algeria decent?!

2019-09-07 22:47:16 UTC

And a foot is 12 inches because it was the standard Maker's foot length

2019-09-07 22:47:41 UTC

@Raven Nah, I'm from French Islands like Martinique, Guadeloupe and Maurice.

2019-09-07 22:47:53 UTC

Neat!

2019-09-07 22:48:40 UTC

But yeah, being denied the Visa and losing the job was pretty... Devastating.

2019-09-07 22:49:05 UTC

Metric is good for measurements under one inch Imperial's the system for anything else.

2019-09-07 22:49:29 UTC

It was for me a chance to prove to the people around me that you don't need diplomas or connections to do great things and go far... College dropout here.

2019-09-07 22:51:06 UTC

University of life experience is worth it weight in gold👍

2019-09-07 22:51:50 UTC

2019-09-07 22:52:04 UTC

College is overrated depending on the major

2019-09-07 22:52:10 UTC

That could have been my golden ticket to get a job quickly once I came back in France. Especially since I worked in Tourism.

2019-09-07 22:53:23 UTC

College is useful for jobs essential for society to function and progress.

however today... Most college students just take non profitable and stupid majors that have no value or very little on the job market assuming it's not an oversaturated one.

2019-09-07 22:53:52 UTC

But my underwater basketweaving degree!

2019-09-07 22:54:09 UTC

Not that you can prove it is either

2019-09-07 22:55:26 UTC

I for one... Always advise kids these days to go to vocational schools.

2019-09-07 22:55:40 UTC

I majored in history with the intention of becoming a teacher, and now I'm an electrician so yeah trades are the way

2019-09-07 22:55:48 UTC

2019-09-07 22:56:52 UTC

2019-09-07 22:56:57 UTC

2019-09-07 22:57:12 UTC

But it is funny to think that we destine ourselves for a job one day and eventually end up doing something completely different.

2019-09-07 22:58:03 UTC
