More Chinese control in the economy and government.

2019-11-11 15:15:07 UTC

if UK goes down... china lose money

2019-11-11 15:15:11 UTC

We should nationalise that company

2019-11-11 15:15:15 UTC

no.. the opposite

2019-11-11 15:15:25 UTC

I'm probably with Nathan on this one tbh

2019-11-11 15:15:26 UTC

more control in Chinas government

2019-11-11 15:15:39 UTC

We don't have more control in China? What?

2019-11-11 15:15:40 UTC

their money is tied in our companies

2019-11-11 15:15:49 UTC

China has more control over our economy and our policies

2019-11-11 15:15:52 UTC

if the UK fails, china lose out

2019-11-11 15:15:54 UTC

Through those investments and that money

2019-11-11 15:16:04 UTC

Sure, but they can take measures to ensure the UK doesn't fail.

2019-11-11 15:16:11 UTC

if china wanted more control they could just let our failing businesses die

2019-11-11 15:16:12 UTC

Which is where their influence in the govnerment comes in

2019-11-11 15:16:22 UTC

As we know, businesses have influence in the government

2019-11-11 15:16:37 UTC

Now, if those businesses are owned by the Chinese. Boom, China has influence in the government.

2019-11-11 15:16:44 UTC

Which means we'll get more pro-China legislation

2019-11-11 15:16:48 UTC

i don't think we want china embedded in our infrastructure as much as we can help it

2019-11-11 15:16:52 UTC

The more they control, the more influence, the more they fuck us

2019-11-11 15:17:07 UTC

if britain owned companies in china... all our money would be in china... we would be reliant on china

2019-11-11 15:17:26 UTC

That's not true

2019-11-11 15:17:39 UTC

China doesn't have "all" their money in the UK.

2019-11-11 15:17:48 UTC

but they have a stake

2019-11-11 15:17:53 UTC

they have money on the line

2019-11-11 15:17:55 UTC

True.

2019-11-11 15:18:05 UTC

money talks

2019-11-11 15:18:05 UTC

Which is why they will leverage their position to keep those investments safe

2019-11-11 15:18:10 UTC

Exactly.

2019-11-11 15:18:15 UTC

they have no leverage

2019-11-11 15:18:18 UTC

Which means they will influence politics to their advantage

2019-11-11 15:18:20 UTC

Of course they do

2019-11-11 15:18:23 UTC

Through that money

2019-11-11 15:18:27 UTC

Through those investments

2019-11-11 15:18:38 UTC

Are you trying to say that business has no power in our government?

2019-11-11 15:18:50 UTC

so their leverage is "if you dont do what we say we're going to make this business fail and lose all our money"

2019-11-11 15:19:02 UTC

DONT YOU GO AND MAKE US LOSE ALL OUR MONEY NOW!

2019-11-11 15:19:20 UTC

WE MEAN IT! WE'LL LOSE ALL OUR MONEY!

2019-11-11 15:19:23 UTC

😛

2019-11-11 15:19:31 UTC

i'm not sure how big of a deal it is in the case of something like British Steel, don't know enough about them

2019-11-11 15:19:33 UTC

They levereage is "We'll pull our investments, causing massive damage to the economy." or "We'll put some more investments in, if you do X" or they use their origional investments to lobby the government,

2019-11-11 15:19:40 UTC

i'm more worried about infrastructure like telecomms
