Well that escalated quickly…

The critical part is "Terminations by YouTube for Service Changes

YouTube may terminate your access, or your Google account’s access to all or part of the Service if YouTube believes, in its sole discretion, that provision of the Service to you is no longer commercially viable."

2019-11-14 02:18:42 UTC

Which can be also interpreted that if **A SERVICE** becomes not commercially viable, they have the permission to **TERMINATE THE SERVICE** (thus terminating your account's access to the service **BECAUSE THE SERVICE ITSELF DOESN'T EXIST**).

2019-11-14 02:19:08 UTC

So which way is it? It's such badly written paragraph since it can be interpreted either way.

2019-11-14 02:19:43 UTC

And why is it under "Account Suspension & Termination"?

2019-11-14 02:20:46 UTC

Having studied law, I have a reasonable understanding of legalese and get why ToS contracts are written the way they are; yet I agree with Styx's analysis here. They couldn't have written this more poorly if their intentions were genuinely noble.

2019-11-14 02:23:54 UTC

He's absolutely correct that not one person, trained or untrained, reasonably interpreted it to mean what they're claiming it means; and so everyone is justifiably terrified of the implications of this. It's worse than a bank run. Most of the damage has been done by this point scaring potential creators off.

Couple this with Tim Pool's insider analysis that this is a barrier for new content creators and this could be the beginning of the end for YT. So much so I'm considering doing future videos on a different host site over this.

2019-11-14 02:29:08 UTC

I'm more worries about "You agree not to access Content through any technology or means other than the video playback pages of the Service itself, the Embeddable Player, or other explicitly authorized means YouTube may designate." being changed to "circumvent, disable, fraudulently engage with, or otherwise interfere with any part of the Service (or attempt to do any of these things), including security-related features or features that (a) prevent or restrict the copying or other use of Content or (b) limit the use of the Service or Content;"

(The Permissions and Restrictions part has been completely rewritten but those are roughly the equivalent parts.)

2019-11-14 02:29:38 UTC

Even the older version prohibited use of hacked versions of Youtube Android app (such as Youtube Vanced).

2019-11-14 02:31:28 UTC

But the newer version expands it to prohibit use of any software that partially blocks YT services (that includes Youtube Vanced since it adblocks) but will further include all other ad blockers, in regular browsers, not just hacked YT app. Like: access YT with Adblock Plus or NoScript => banned, locked out of your GMail and might as well throw your Android phone in the trash bin.

2019-11-14 02:33:03 UTC

And I'm pretty paranoid, so I never stay logged into my Gmail on desktop, not logged into YT while I browse it. And I don't log into Youtube on Android either **BUT** since it's a Google phone, Google might know if I accessed YT without logging in. The phone itself is always logged in after all.

2019-11-14 02:33:39 UTC

There's just way too much power in the hands of Google, when majority of mobile phones rely on Gmail accounts.

2019-11-14 03:10:10 UTC

You know what this means.

2019-11-14 03:10:15 UTC

Custom Android builds.

2019-11-14 03:10:17 UTC

2019-11-14 03:10:21 UTC

Linux is the future.

2019-11-14 03:10:39 UTC

2019-11-14 03:12:17 UTC

It's a mans world, getting invaded by privleged women.

2019-11-14 03:13:01 UTC

@BrandonChimaria (。◕‿◕。✿) Linux is imploding thanks to SJWs purging "bigots". And you know what ensues? The "bigots" take the copyright to the source codes and Linux crashes overnight.

2019-11-14 03:13:19 UTC

Indeed.

2019-11-14 03:13:39 UTC

It'll hurt the internet, plus alot of more things.

2019-11-14 03:13:39 UTC

We need Hatix.

I've noticed something, everything I like usually gets ruined.

2019-11-14 03:15:05 UTC

Anime is the last one standing. But their official translators (and some of the fansubs) are lost to wokeness.

2019-11-14 03:15:23 UTC

We need to get rid of retardEra, then we're good.

2019-11-14 03:15:24 UTC

The moment when you realize Commie Fansub isn't Commie for no reason...

2019-11-14 03:15:59 UTC

We are going to need more helicopters.

2019-11-14 03:17:21 UTC

Cool VN dev, though. Many cool, triggering titles.
