Okay but they'd have probably been able to get there
So what you are saying is, go back in time and save rome?
as an aside
yo didnt even have copper plating
on the underside of boats
until well after the 1700s began
Could they make giant steam-drawn scorpion
metal only became super in demand
when cannons came about
cuz those *had* to be made of metal
But having a ship part need to be metal should have a similar effect then
@leavethisbotnet youd need wheels for that
metal wheels
rubber wasnt thing yet
and even if it was youd need a metal undercarriage
40k had a skynet scenario though
ai became malevolent
i got corrupted by chaos
And they have to keep up with slaanesh
it had nothing to do with inherent problms with ai
true
40k empire of man still uses ai
not true ai
it's based of human brains or its very simple
not cogniscent maybe
no
machine spirits are explicitly ai
just really non sentient varieties
And where they're closer to sentient they have shrines, priests, and on-staff chaos repellents
the other problem with their tech is the the machine cult
they stop them from redeveloping things
Redeveloping things leads to slaanesh influence
like predator tanks with a lascannon turret was tech heresy
then they found the STC
and they said it wasn't anymore
Nurgle is a better deal for the empire than slaanesh is
plus the machine cult hoards STC's and tech
The machine cult develops thiga
They just keep development in the hands of the higher ups
