There was never an analogue to the Roman empire or China in Africa and they spend most of their resources on war and leisure than on economy, technology or the arts.
I mean there were never these industrious people like the Greek, Romans or the Chinese on the African continent that would build a civilization and spread it all around the place.
Their geography is pretty fucked too. There's a pest belt in the middle of the continent. Also a series of plateaus make transcontinental rail and pipeline impossible. Most of their coast is useless for Deepwater port access. Soil is shit most places too.
@Jym I have played worse and I'm a fan of Civ. When I play maps like that I just try build basic infrastructure and develop small settlements all over the place.
What I actually mean is not a particular gameplay, but the fact that the Africans *could* have managed to overcome it, if they were industrious enough.
Like, if you could not access the wheel because there were no horses so you cannot research horseback riding. That's not how civ works but it is how reality works.
What I mean is that they just made a serious of very bad civilization choices back in the days when they had the chance to become something and this is why now they are nothing.
You're just wrong here man. Domesticated antelope *might* be possible after passing a few agricultural hurdles. Hurdles you won't get over in most of Africa.
