Weird.
We are not exclusively one
we're not a "direct democracy" that doesn't give one leave to just say "we're not a democracy"
Good so Socialism/Communism all falls into shit ^_-
Cause generalization.
i mean i think the term "a democracy" is silly
fuck your editable documents and fuck you.
because it implies that the demos is in charge
People use the term Democracy when talking about the US because they want everyone to forget about the Judiciary and the Executive have equal power to the Congress so they can bypass Constitutional protections. The only way to describe the US Government is a Republic which implies it is Democratic.
We are a representative democracy and constitutional republic. Both. not either-or
i shouldve clarified that i meant direct democracy earlier too.
kinda just forgot
Anyone with enough wrinkles could figure that out @W1NT3R1SC0MING
well clearly we are lacking in wrinkles
The Democracy wikipedia page is locked.
It can't be edited
Unless you're authorized.
You still need to explain to me why it's wrong
posting the same article over and over doesn't make it more relevant to the conversation
in the case of the US being a direct democracy?
And why all the sources at the bottom are wrong and you, with none are right?
we literally arent thats how
the executive is chosen based on democratic procedure and the judiciary is appointed by democratically elected officials
That wasn't being debated
pretty "democratic"
well tbf the executive of the US is chosen through a more federalistic manner
Well judges would probably be the least Democratic at the federal levels and states where they aren't elected.
But thank God we don't elect Federal judges
yeah that'd kinda be a shitshow
for better or worse
That and we have those in power and influence not elected into their positions.
federal judges are appointed by democratically elected officials though
do I need to go over why that doesn't mean dick, again?
Indirectly it is, but it's not a Democratic process in itself.
people are making decisions by virtue of having been empowered by the process
If you wanted the appointment process to be more Democratic the judges would be chosen by the people for review instead of the President
But that would remove the checks and balances
