My gripe with the modern world is the crutches. Few can mend a car anymore. Few can wire a plug. My grandad was a carpenter in Holborn. Every Thursday he’s bring back the wage. If he didn’t go to work my family might starve. Back then the world was harsh. When my dad was in secondary school his best friend spend two years to get into uni. The teacher wouldn’t let him do the corses needed. You needed to be tough. Modern capitalism, socialism. It’s all crutches. When we settled the Americans there was no insurance. One man and his family responsible for himself
That’s all gone now
didn't read
If the teacher won't let you do the courses needed then do it yourself.
Oh your dad.
So what it's easier?
Then use the benefits you get.
Are you British or American?
They are British.
They are whining about life being too easy.
Yet they don't do anything with their easy life.
Whats wrong with it being easy exactly?
My problem is they acknowledge life has gotten easier.
But they don't try to make any value of it.
Instead they whine, having done nothing.
Lately Ive been filled with aggression and jingoism.
All the safety nets have weakened us. That wasn’t how it worked. The world has weakened. In the US military the DS can only make a recruit do twenty pushups. You rely on them to save us in war
You sure he isnt from the States?
If the safety nets have weakened people then strengthen yourself.
@One Fire One Nail When they settled the American colonizers where all by themselves for a simple reason:
Social interdependence builds over time.
@Sheik of Silicon Valley if you didn’t work the fields your family starved
Also our military here in Amerikkka was killing limey faggots long before pushups and modern workouts existed. Im sure they can kill a few chingchongs or russkies if push coms to shove, gymbroing or not.
@One Fire One Nail And that's good because ?
1 word per year.
I think you really don't understand how the job market today works.
Some people simply don't have the competences or qualities required by the job market
Or the job market already lacks demand.
Silicuck valley.
And I would give my liver to live in that world. I just want to do an honest days work. And die an honest man. I would give up technology and insurance at the drop of a hat. Maybe I’m being over nostalgic but before a man died he could look at the things he built, the people alive today and feel pride. It’s a sad fact that you could die today and not make any mark big or small
If you would give your liver then why not actually work your ass off in this world?
It should be better as everything is easier.
Meaning with the same amount of work you can get further.
So then what's the problem?
Get a job and quit whining.
@One Fire One Nail Your seems more like a romanticization of the past than a logical need.
I have no interest in living in such a shitty world. Even modern labor going from 8 to six is obscene and retarded, especially here in the USA w no legal required paid vacay. Fuck working "long and hard". If you want to do that shit, you are welcome to.
