Honestly I had no idea you could legally get guns over there in NZ. I thought they were as restricted / banned as they were in Australia, and maybe you could own a single action rifle or BB gun with the right hunting license. Apparently, there are 6.2 million(!) unregistered firearms in NZ due to lax laws.
