I think it's just a different vibe honestly. They did take a long detour from metal between the Black Album and Death Magnetic after all. Hence why there's the idea of "New Metallica" and "Old Metallica." So long as you don't hold the exact expectations of classic works to new ones, New Metallica is definitely a good listen.

Sabaton is awesome, love the historical themes. But when I listen to them for too long, I end up missing the growls of other bands like Arch Enemy, Infected Rain, Jinjer, Butcher Babies, and Eluveitie.

I meant moreso that the songs words describe what thoughts would be inside of a re-education camp. Not really that I’d get to listen to it there.
I bet they would strictly monitor it in reality. Probably a lot of Cardi B and politically correct pop junk would help indoctrinate people into the culture/new social order that they create.
