The most expensive part of a zig zag platform is the tray itself.

2021-01-28 17:06:01 UTC

With an elevator then you have to make a lot more.

2021-01-28 17:06:48 UTC

Or order third party parts.

2021-01-28 17:07:19 UTC

The only thing I want to buy from someone else is the tools and the barrel

2021-01-28 17:07:26 UTC

Because hammer forges are expensive.

2021-01-28 17:07:35 UTC

well, I think you still need an elevator of sorts, but it would mechanically operate by the zig zag wheel, instead of a spring.

2021-01-28 17:07:58 UTC

Well if I have the zig zag as a roller that solves that

2021-01-28 17:08:06 UTC

how so?

2021-01-28 17:08:10 UTC

So the trenches are forced along a roller

2021-01-28 17:08:35 UTC

Makes it much easier to move along and then I only have to lube the roller

2021-01-28 17:09:12 UTC

The zig and zags would be lifts and drops

2021-01-28 17:09:20 UTC

So they themselves are the elevators

2021-01-28 17:09:41 UTC

Each second shot is lifted

2021-01-28 17:09:48 UTC

Then it's a sheer drop for the next

2021-01-28 17:10:01 UTC

quick question, where would the zigzag go exactly?

2021-01-28 17:10:08 UTC

Also prevents falling out without a latch

2021-01-28 17:10:12 UTC

Bottom of the tray

2021-01-28 17:10:35 UTC

Then ontop a flicker like in a belt fed machine gun to push it along.

2021-01-28 17:10:45 UTC

ah

2021-01-28 17:11:00 UTC

So little holes ontop and zig zags on the bottom

2021-01-28 17:11:11 UTC

This also prevents you from inserting it upside down.

2021-01-28 17:11:44 UTC

so like the zig zag would look like this, just off to the side of the bolt?

2021-01-28 17:11:47 UTC

wouldnt the flicker line have to move up and down to be able to maintain contact with the magazine?, or are the spokes going to be long enough to avoid that problem?

2021-01-28 17:12:07 UTC

I'm probably gonna make it a gear

2021-01-28 17:12:20 UTC

So it just has to spin to push it along

2021-01-28 17:12:36 UTC

Then have little droppers in the gear that land in holes

2021-01-28 17:13:12 UTC

The zig zags are more for the raising and lowering of rounds

2021-01-28 17:15:47 UTC

hmm. not sure I understand.

2021-01-28 17:16:11 UTC

Im sure it'll work though. you understand this stuff a lot better than me xD

2021-01-28 17:16:52 UTC

I'll draw a quick diagram

2021-01-28 17:16:59 UTC

ty

2021-01-28 17:24:24 UTC

The shaded ones are raised and the none shaded ones are lowered

2021-01-28 17:24:33 UTC

So they would ramp up and down

2021-01-28 17:25:21 UTC

so it basically is the metal block idea

2021-01-28 17:26:28 UTC

oh yeah, its all coming together now

2021-01-28 17:27:26 UTC

Side view

2021-01-28 17:27:35 UTC

ooh

2021-01-28 17:27:58 UTC

As you can see near the send of a zig zag it would have a sheer drop

2021-01-28 17:28:04 UTC

So it can't roll back
