yeah

2021-02-12 15:06:00 UTC

so we should find what amount would be added to add up to 100g I think

2021-02-12 15:06:13 UTC

but there’s only 30 possible combinations

2021-02-12 15:06:22 UTC

because he only saved for 30 days

2021-02-12 15:07:20 UTC

we could have 13 50 cents, 1 10 cent and 1 20 cent

2021-02-12 15:07:28 UTC

I'll see if that adds up to 100g brb

2021-02-12 15:07:52 UTC

damn it it's 99 g

2021-02-12 15:09:29 UTC

I think 12 50 cents, 2 20 cent and 2 10 cent would add up to 100g

2021-02-12 15:09:54 UTC

this seems impossible 😭

2021-02-12 15:10:38 UTC

not really, we just have to try different possiblilities

2021-02-12 15:10:52 UTC

although I think we were suppose to use different methods

2021-02-12 15:11:01 UTC

I'm just seeing the worst and best case sernerio

2021-02-12 15:11:52 UTC

alrighty

2021-02-12 15:12:15 UTC

using 12 50 cents, 2 20 cents and 2 10 cents we get 660 extra cents

2021-02-12 15:12:56 UTC

or 6.60

2021-02-12 15:13:22 UTC

uh huh, we still have to find the worst case senerio

2021-02-12 15:13:23 UTC

So the way to write it is

1000g = 7gF + 5gTW+ 3gTN

You know he adds at least two of each every day.

420 50c
300 20c
180 10c
900c to cover.

100g=7F+5TW+3TN

To maximize start by testing 7. 7 goes into 100 14 times with a remainder of two, but we need more room to work, so bump it down to 13. 7*13 gives us 91, with can then be made to 100 by adding 3 10c.

2021-02-12 15:14:22 UTC

An additional $6.80 to the minimum.

2021-02-12 15:15:02 UTC

i’m actually starting to understand it way better

2021-02-12 15:15:05 UTC

so I tested with the least 50 cents and found that 10 20 cents and 10 10 cents and 4 50 cents adds up to 100g

2021-02-12 15:15:40 UTC

For the minimum it will be 30 3g & 2 5g.

2021-02-12 15:15:41 UTC

oh lol I can't math

2021-02-12 15:16:03 UTC

yeah I realized I didn't need 50 cents

2021-02-12 15:18:13 UTC

in other words, the more 50 cents you have the more money you get, less 50 cents the less money you get

2021-02-12 15:18:45 UTC

That's my way of looking at it. However, it may be a trick. It may be worth maximizing the 20C category.

2021-02-12 15:19:13 UTC

Actually, I think that may be better...

2021-02-12 15:19:18 UTC

yeah this one seems to be a bunch of trial and error with 3o different combinations

2021-02-12 15:20:21 UTC

using 20 cents we would be able to put 20 extra coins and in turn get like 5 dollars

2021-02-12 15:20:35 UTC

Never mind. Use 13 7g coins, gets you $6.5

2021-02-12 15:21:14 UTC

Then add 3 10C coins to even the 100g needed to meet 10kg.

2021-02-12 15:22:47 UTC

That would be the maximum amount you would get. the lowest would be 30 10 cent coins and 2 20 cent coins

2021-02-12 15:23:45 UTC

the answer would be maxmimum amount - lowest amount.

2021-02-12 15:24:00 UTC

so 6.5$ - 3.4$

2021-02-12 15:24:15 UTC

Yes.

2021-02-12 15:24:23 UTC

3.10$ should be your answer

2021-02-12 15:24:59 UTC

No! That's not right. It's 3.4

2021-02-12 15:25:12 UTC

You forgot to add .3 to the maximum to get to 100g.

2021-02-12 15:25:37 UTC

oh my bad

2021-02-12 15:26:03 UTC

It seems the person with the problem has left us here.

2021-02-12 15:26:14 UTC

eh whatever I think he figured it out on his own

2021-02-12 16:13:38 UTC

sorry guys
