and have higher divorce rates

2017-09-25 02:35:11 UTC

Not news.

2017-09-25 02:35:16 UTC

also educated women are more likely to stay in a marriage longer

2017-09-25 02:35:21 UTC

and remain married

2017-09-25 02:35:25 UTC

than uneductade women

2017-09-25 02:35:29 UTC

regardless of ethnic group

2017-09-25 02:37:00 UTC

I find it interesting how modern media makes divorce seem like something normal and not a big deal. That is until you realise that divorce rates are highly correlated to iq

2017-09-25 02:38:03 UTC

Yeah, there was a point when (((sitcoms and night time TV))) started bashing fathers and encouraging single motherhood.

2017-09-25 02:38:12 UTC

exactly

2017-09-25 02:38:49 UTC

"For example, during the 1960s and 1970s divorce and premarital sex both became more widely accepted. Changes in attitudes toward divorce appear to have followed rises in divorce, suggesting something other than growing acceptance was responsible for the rise in divorce that started around the beginning of the 20th century. Nonetheless, rising divorce rates combined with growing acceptance of premarital sex might have encouraged people to delay marriage and cohabit outside of marriage. Altogether, this reinforced the notion that decisions to marry or divorce are a private concern, not something subject to social sanction."

2017-09-25 02:39:39 UTC

So, divorce rates went up before it became socially acceptable

2017-09-25 02:39:48 UTC

suggesting that something else caused it

2017-09-25 02:39:50 UTC

🤔

2017-09-25 02:42:33 UTC

The study says the racial differences are mostly due to the innability of young black men to transition into stable employment.

2017-09-25 02:42:52 UTC

In other words, niggas don't work.

2017-09-25 02:43:45 UTC

n sheeeit.

2017-09-25 02:44:15 UTC

As young adults, black men have more trouble transitioning into stable full-time employment than white men do, and this racial difference is particularly pronounced among men with lower levels of education. In early adulthood, even college-educated black men earn less than white men, however.49 These differences in career entry alone help explain why black men are slower to marry than white men.

2017-09-25 02:44:46 UTC

Economic discrimination can easily explain that though

2017-09-25 02:44:57 UTC

black people don't have trouble finding work in black nations

2017-09-25 02:45:00 UTC

Women aren't gonna want you if you don't have a job and have no future

2017-09-25 02:45:06 UTC

this why ethno-nationalism isn't just good for white people

2017-09-25 02:45:12 UTC

it's good for all ethnic groups

2017-09-25 02:45:21 UTC

Compared to whites, black women and (especially) men are less likely to say they want to marry. -Also from the study.

2017-09-25 02:45:42 UTC

Different cultural values

2017-09-25 02:45:57 UTC

again shows that ethnic segregation is a good thing for all people

2017-09-25 02:46:04 UTC

but

2017-09-25 02:46:07 UTC

on a global squale

2017-09-25 02:46:12 UTC

nations for blacks

2017-09-25 02:46:16 UTC

not just neighborhoods

2017-09-25 02:46:37 UTC

The welfare state destroyed marriage in black families in large part as well. Incentivising single motherhood is never a good idea.

2017-09-25 02:47:33 UTC

not sure if I linked this

2017-09-25 02:47:39 UTC

Figures 1 and 2 are very interesting

2017-09-25 02:47:45 UTC

they show divorce rates over a hundred years

2017-09-25 02:47:47 UTC

for blacks and whites

2017-09-25 02:47:53 UTC

In sum, in the early part of the 20th century, urbanization and other shifts in the economy occurred alongside gradual but modest increases in divorce, especially among blacks. In the years immediately following World War II, unanticipated economic prosperity boosted marriage rates, but only temporarily. Broader cultural trends that emphasized individual choice and gender equality contributed to a growing divorce rate. Divorce among blacks had begun to rise earlier, and the postwar marriage boom didn’t last as long for blacks as it did for whites. By the 1960s, the proportion of blacks who ever married had started to decline. Divorce among whites began rising later, but divorce rates for both whites and blacks accelerated substantially in the 1970s. Starting in 1980, as the gap between the wages of more- and less-educated people started to widen, the educational gradient in divorce began to grow as well.

2017-09-25 02:47:55 UTC

and blacks have always had superior divorce rates

2017-09-25 02:48:08 UTC

Predating the time of welfare

2017-09-25 02:48:11 UTC

for blacks, I mean

2017-09-25 02:48:22 UTC

welfare for blacks really started with Lyndon Johnson
