better than nothing
but Classical Latin is what would have been spoken by the early church.
Not too much of a difference,
but Vs become Us.
What do ya'll do to not revel in ones own pleasures of the flesh?
Made Jesus my phone wallpaper so if i ever went to google anything i'd feel bad
Anyone anything else?
I struggle with it
Big oof
I was going for a few days but last night YouTube algorithms gave me a certain video I'm especially inclined to
So big oof
yeah control your self and dont stop trying
stop being manipulated by your emotions
@Joe the boomer yeah, at least a positive from this is its a good way to learn how to control myself. I figure if i can do this i can control other impulses
I tried wearing a rubber band for a while and smacking it when id really be inclined to do anything
lol
don't pay attention to how many days it's been since the last time you fell into sin
it might seem like a good idea to keep track of your "winning streak" but ultimately you're just being preoccupied with temptation
@Barry White what would you say to do instead
Try and memorize a prayer.
@Thomas say it when tempted?
Say it when tempted, or simply focus on saying it to forget about anything else.
The hardest part is clearing your mind of distraction.
Over time you'll learn to meditate on those words,
and the more you know
the more wisdom you obtain.
Lord's Prayer in Galilean Aramaic
Abba, [1]
Father,
Yithqadash sh‘mak.
May thy name be holy.
Tethe malkuthak.
May thy kingdom come.
Teh’wey ra’uthak.
May thy will be done.
Pitthan d-çorak [2] hav lan yomden.
Give us today our needed bread.
w-Shbuq lan hobenan. [3]
And forgive us our debts / sins.
Hek ‘anan sh‘baqin l-haibenan.
As we forgive our debtors.
w-La ‘ul lan l-nisyon.
And lead us not into temptation.
Amen.
Crazy sounds there man.
When I realize I'm being tempted, (don't bully me) I find that physically saying no out loud, and then tying that physical rejection to a prayer for strength and deliverance works very well
There are many aspects of our physical bodies vulnerable to temptation by Satan which can simply be driven out and away by verbal or physical rejection.
There's no shame in verbally acknowledging the forces at work.
Yeah
It just becomes a matter of perserverance and vigilance
The trouble is that any idle thoughts can turn to temptations very quickly if your guard is down
^ definitely
Where does aramaic come from?
It's a semitic language
specifically the language of Christ
It came from the Levant and North Africa as most semitic languages did.
