except germany
cause they dont tax their cars as heavily
Well, I'm coming from an American perspective where most cars have a single engine choice
Our trucks though, they have tons of configurations
I.e. The Silverado.
Thats got two different sub models this year; the new model and last year's.
There's 7 engine choices between the two of them
the thing here is that a lot of places have emissions taxes or an equivalent
which obv. also isnt the same everywhere
e.g. here in austria i would pay 35k for a gt86
in germany 30k
and obv. in the us its 23k or w/e
Yeah, California was that was for us, until the auto manufacturers started producing everything to their standards, so it was the same everywhere.
That Tourareg was the last one that wasn't iirc
It was available in only 45 states
heh
they thought about that obv. and i gotta pay the emission tax after the import
how long does that apply for
like could you buy an old 80s car in germany and bring it on
in
thats not an issue
its only on first time registering
so second hand cars aren't an issue
yep
prices (for used cars)are mostly similar to the neighbouring countries due to that
so the solution would be to make a friend in germany, buy the car and register with him but immediately take it across
a new car that instantly becomes second hand
Gotta make friend with them military guys who will import a car for you if they haven't already
Free imports on Americas dime
there's an interesting point actually
so
in the uk we habe VAT
which is basically 20% tax on like everything
if you're an American travelling you can claim VAT back
I wonder if a visiting american could claim back car vat on a new car
having sold the car
Most likely
or maybe cars are vat exempt
well, the law has a passage for just that
so if they find out they will fuck you for tax evasion
Who's taxes? Lol
The austrian states taxes
