The Assyrians lived here for thousands of years. The Kurds have been there for as long as people have prayed to fire.

About the ethnic homelands. Most of the Assyrians, Syriacs, and Turkmen who live in kurdish iraq all speak Sorani. And we're all rather similar in culture. @Fitzydog
