Sinn fein is the party that wants a unified ireland, they are socialists

2019-04-06 00:42:06 UTC

Sinn Fein used to be against EU but now support it

2019-04-06 00:42:15 UTC

I guess money does buy power

2019-04-06 00:43:54 UTC

Only if it's for sale <:makes_you_think:382980749780844554>

2019-04-06 00:44:44 UTC

funny because most nationalist movements on these isles are left wing

2019-04-06 00:45:12 UTC

SNP, plaid cymru, Sinn Fein

2019-04-06 00:45:22 UTC

all nationalist and all left wing

2019-04-06 00:45:26 UTC

and all pro european union

2019-04-06 00:47:04 UTC

Europe tis a silly place

2019-04-06 00:47:19 UTC

though I can't think of a nationalist party that is pro free market.

2019-04-06 00:48:32 UTC

they all tend to lean left economically

2019-04-06 00:48:54 UTC

Nationalism is usually more associated with the right.

2019-04-06 00:49:10 UTC

yes because of the last century

2019-04-06 00:49:13 UTC

>National socialism

2019-04-06 00:50:04 UTC

@drydad oh fuck I haven't seen you around here in a LONG time

2019-04-06 00:50:14 UTC

Yes, we know the EU is a fascist meta-state

2019-04-06 00:51:10 UTC

I hear Americans talking about nationalism but i think they mean more controls on immigration

2019-04-06 00:51:34 UTC

No, we mean localized soverignty

2019-04-06 00:51:53 UTC

when I speak of nationalism, for example, I mean civic nationalism

2019-04-06 00:51:53 UTC

American nationalism definitely gives me anti-immigration vibes

2019-04-06 00:52:04 UTC

@drydad No shit.

2019-04-06 00:52:27 UTC

Nationalism should be about putting your citizens first; making sure they gave healthcare, education, and jobs.

2019-04-06 00:52:44 UTC

That's lefti-nationalism

2019-04-06 00:52:45 UTC

Bombing other countries and giving the rich tax breaks is anti-nationalist

2019-04-06 00:52:53 UTC

Correct

2019-04-06 00:52:56 UTC

yes

2019-04-06 00:52:56 UTC

I dont think Americans are using the terminology right, then again they rarely do 😛

2019-04-06 00:53:03 UTC

Which is what America does, often too

2019-04-06 00:53:07 UTC

@NightOwl What?

2019-04-06 00:53:21 UTC

@NightOwl how would you define it?

2019-04-06 00:53:59 UTC

Nationalism should be about pride in ones nation, (not based on it's racial makeup) and to grant to all within the nation the ability of upward mobility and the choice to make something of ones self through hard work.

2019-04-06 00:54:00 UTC

@Werlf I don't understand how we can explain these concepts so often, yet the Europeans still can't seem to grasp most of these concepts

2019-04-06 00:54:24 UTC

@Fitzydog I think the European Bureaucracy really got to their heads...

2019-04-06 00:54:25 UTC

>hard work

2019-04-06 00:54:35 UTC
2019-04-06 00:54:49 UTC

I think Americans use it synonymously with patriotism

2019-04-06 00:54:50 UTC

Most Americans work hard and still can’t afford a $1,000 emergency

2019-04-06 00:54:56 UTC

@drydad Is there not virtue in working for what is yours?

2019-04-06 00:54:59 UTC

@drydad Ok did I fucking say that they can

2019-04-06 00:55:01 UTC

no I didn;t
