Lol

2019-08-19 14:33:50 UTC

he needs that enforcement money

2019-08-19 14:33:58 UTC

if he says that some drugs are bad

2019-08-19 14:34:03 UTC

and some are not so much

2019-08-19 14:34:16 UTC

they will probably reduce the budget

2019-08-19 14:34:53 UTC

Yes but also I believe a significant number of drug prisoners are in for weed charges

2019-08-19 14:35:08 UTC

Which is both quite funny and sad

2019-08-19 14:35:46 UTC

well

2019-08-19 14:35:55 UTC

the prison industrial system is connected

2019-08-19 14:36:01 UTC

people like camala need that slave labor

2019-08-19 14:36:19 UTC

i still cant wrap my head around the fact that usa privatized its prison system

2019-08-19 14:36:22 UTC

wth

2019-08-19 14:36:57 UTC

its one of the most horrible ideas ever

2019-08-19 14:38:59 UTC

Well you have to consider the motivation though

2019-08-19 14:39:08 UTC

Namely, profit

2019-08-19 14:39:16 UTC

you cant bring profit into everything

2019-08-19 14:39:48 UTC

the point of the prison system is not profit, it is to protect the public and reform the individual

2019-08-19 14:39:49 UTC

Well if you're bribing and lobbying Congress though that's your motivation usually

2019-08-19 14:39:57 UTC

this way, there is no incentive to do either of those 2 things

2019-08-19 14:40:50 UTC

i know their motivation

2019-08-19 14:40:57 UTC

i just dont undestand how something like that is legal

2019-08-19 14:41:09 UTC

its on a level of a 3rd world country

2019-08-19 14:41:24 UTC

trying to make profit on keeping people incarcerated... and then you realise why ex cons cannot be rehabilitated because of how they're treated in prisons

2019-08-19 14:41:35 UTC

America is well on its way to being one

2019-08-19 14:42:36 UTC

that should be one of the main topics of the political debate

2019-08-19 14:42:44 UTC

no one even mentions it

2019-08-19 14:43:05 UTC

Mm

2019-08-19 14:43:05 UTC

most people dont care

2019-08-19 14:43:14 UTC

until it happens to them or their friends or family

2019-08-19 14:43:42 UTC

from a european perspective, this is hellish

2019-08-19 14:43:51 UTC

It is

2019-08-19 14:44:15 UTC

no european country has a system like that

2019-08-19 14:45:07 UTC

Prison should be a healthy mix of punishment and rehabilitation. Give people a second chance. Not make a profit and keep them in prison where they foster resentment against society and continue gang participation

2019-08-19 14:45:45 UTC

yes

2019-08-19 14:46:07 UTC

give them a chance to earn a degree

2019-08-19 14:46:12 UTC

get a job later on

2019-08-19 14:46:37 UTC

learn a craft

2019-08-19 14:46:46 UTC

Exactly
