I don't think most Europeans that like to talk up Public transport really understand the size of the United States

2019-09-11 01:14:59 UTC

How fucking massive we are

2019-09-11 01:15:04 UTC

They cant fathom it

2019-09-11 01:15:10 UTC

My state is comparable in size to Germany.

2019-09-11 01:15:19 UTC

They dont realize you could drive 2 hours and not hit a city

2019-09-11 01:15:22 UTC

With a lower population, of course

2019-09-11 01:15:34 UTC

Driving from St Louis to Kansas City is a nice 4-5 hour trip

2019-09-11 01:15:41 UTC

Depending on how many stops you need to take

2019-09-11 01:15:56 UTC

It's a fucking pain to get from city to city out in the middle of the country

2019-09-11 01:16:04 UTC

Hell many areas you can drive hours between cities and only find truck stops in between at best

2019-09-11 01:16:36 UTC

You usually have the luck of coming across small towns out here

2019-09-11 01:16:45 UTC

At least a gas station at every other one

2019-09-11 01:17:24 UTC

Irony is out here. Amtrak drops you in Portland, Tacoma, and seattle fine but the nearest to me is couple hours away. Which is odd as we do have trains here and arnt a small town

2019-09-11 01:17:41 UTC

Wha?

2019-09-11 01:17:42 UTC

How big?

2019-09-11 01:17:47 UTC

There's no station down there?

2019-09-11 01:17:48 UTC

oh nice I'm green again

2019-09-11 01:18:15 UTC

Naw closest one is in kalamath falls

2019-09-11 01:18:24 UTC

Oddly enough

2019-09-11 01:18:42 UTC

..... weird choice

2019-09-11 01:18:56 UTC

I have no clue where that is but it sounds odd

2019-09-11 01:19:03 UTC

Well the air base is there. So maybe because of that, but yea odd there isnt one here

2019-09-11 01:19:55 UTC

NOTE: The Amtrak Coast Starlight, which stretches the West coast of the US, is a 35hr train ride

2019-09-11 01:20:02 UTC

Take that as scale

2019-09-11 01:20:16 UTC

Jeez

2019-09-11 01:20:18 UTC

Is that from border to border and all the offshoots?

2019-09-11 01:20:32 UTC

Imagine the first intercontinental railroad

2019-09-11 01:20:39 UTC

how fucking long of a journey that would

2019-09-11 01:20:41 UTC

be

2019-09-11 01:20:42 UTC

fuck

2019-09-11 01:20:50 UTC

@Goblin_Slayer_Floki Sorry, coast starlight: Seattle to LA

2019-09-11 01:20:51 UTC

Well it would be closer to a straight shot

2019-09-11 01:21:13 UTC

Ah, is it straight through?

2019-09-11 01:21:17 UTC

No stops

2019-09-11 01:21:33 UTC

That's the stops included, which is why it's 35hrs

2019-09-11 01:21:39 UTC

Figured

2019-09-11 01:21:47 UTC

Lot of stops between those

2019-09-11 01:22:18 UTC

The first intercontinental for a while would be mostly no stops once you got out of the east

2019-09-11 01:22:25 UTC

It actually sounds kind of nice though

2019-09-11 01:22:35 UTC

Going over the west coast?

2019-09-11 01:22:37 UTC

See a lot of the mountain country
