Thinking back to the civilizations that existed before Europeans came, they were very violent and bloody. Organized but still violent

Then you have Europeans come and try to set up their style of governments and society's. High trust and low violence. But they fail over time, especially as the government roles are no longer kept purely for Europeans

Looking at what's happened in south America and Africa over a long period of time, colonization by Europeans was an attempt by an outside force to impose a manner of society that simply could not exist among the indigenous population. What's happening now is them returning to a more natural state. Except when aid money and other things are considered.

It did have one interesting effect though on the US. The US was slow to take up communist and socialist stuff that the Europeans did. They were more racially conscious and conservative. I think it was an effect of the whites living with a black population. If you vote for welfare, blacks get it to. So they were more resistant to voting for it for a while
