No! You can model anything 3D in cad

2021-01-18 05:59:47 UTC

I’ve modeled a wine bottle opener 😂

2021-01-18 06:00:26 UTC

Well sure but AutoCad isn't like the best for 3D, It's great for more SVG and laser cutter works 😂

2021-01-18 06:00:40 UTC

Idk sorry I do a lot of friendly CAD debates with freinds

2021-01-18 06:01:04 UTC

Usually Onshape V.S. Fusion, Inventor v.s Fusion, ect

2021-01-18 06:02:02 UTC

Eh. It’s not the easiest but you can get it done, depending on your skill level.

2021-01-18 06:03:12 UTC

Fair enough, I perosnally like Fusion the best, but like the say, the one you know best is what's best for you ;)

Honestly it just depends on how your brain works when you go to construct something. How you would approach it. The only reason I do that is because that’s what I have experience with, other than like cadworx and pdms. But my background is mechanical design.

2021-01-18 06:07:08 UTC

I don’t ever get the opportunity daily to work with solid modeling. Shit that was like 6 years ago at least.

2021-01-18 06:07:53 UTC

And when I do get to actually model something from scratch it’s the most basic crap you can think of.

2021-01-18 06:08:14 UTC

Ohhhh I see where your coming from

2021-01-18 06:09:15 UTC

Well in that case I have less experience (only about 2 years), but I'm more of the start with solid modeling and play around

I work opposite, I’ll draw 2d parts and make them 3D

2021-01-18 06:10:09 UTC

Yup we're polar opposites then 😂

2021-01-18 06:10:17 UTC

Well both workout haha

2021-01-18 06:10:56 UTC

My brain generally works the opposite way of most people lol

2021-01-18 06:11:21 UTC

Haha well I think that's cool

2021-01-18 06:11:36 UTC

It's unique and creative

2021-01-18 06:12:08 UTC

It’s just the Way I learned. Started with sketching and then worked my way up. Had some old school teachers

2021-01-18 06:15:27 UTC

Throw back to like.. wayyy back. When I could actually draw thing with a pencil and my hand not swell up from carpal tunnel 😂

2021-01-18 06:17:52 UTC

That's awesome!!

2021-01-18 06:18:04 UTC

Did you study industrial design?

2021-01-18 06:19:16 UTC

Yes my degree is engineering design with a petro/industrial concentration

2021-01-18 06:20:19 UTC

And then I did my minor in machine design

2021-01-18 06:20:56 UTC

If oil and gas continues being what it is I’ll go ahead and button up that machine design and go a different path

2021-01-18 06:22:46 UTC

I think we’re all looking for different avenues of income at this point in my field

2021-01-18 06:42:00 UTC

That's really awesome! I'm in high school and aspiring to get into aerospace engineering. I didn't know the oil gas industry is becoming like that, is it slowly declining?
