Ok but so did the free men and women in America. That’s an American standard of living. It’s dicey territory to argue that slavery was the reason that blacks in America had it better than other countries that were like 3rd world...

2021-01-12 02:14:27 UTC

Lol

2021-01-12 02:14:42 UTC

Look it up

2021-01-12 02:14:53 UTC

Nice thinking. Pass a law giving president extreme powers 9 days before Biden is about to take power

2021-01-12 02:15:04 UTC

Thats been a law

2021-01-12 02:15:11 UTC

He is enacting it

Technically they had higher standards of living than the average white southerner as far as technical nutrition

2021-01-12 02:16:05 UTC

Weight and other factors had show this to be the case.

2021-01-12 02:16:51 UTC

Also consider the fact you don’t hear stories about blacks crying about slavery in the Middle East. Despite more slavery there. That’s because they castrated them.

2021-01-12 02:16:53 UTC

I wonder if West Virginia gets the honorary Dixie Card since we were with the South for the 1st half of the war

2021-01-12 02:17:01 UTC

And they were beaten and worked to death too though. I’d trade a small amount of the nutrients I get for freedom if I were a slave...

2021-01-12 02:17:13 UTC

You get a pass because your rightfully part of Virginia

2021-01-12 02:17:23 UTC

"The plantation owners whip me all daylong to work their farm and pay me jack shit and im not allowed to leave and i was also purchesed like some product."
-Some Slave guy probably

2021-01-12 02:17:24 UTC

False

2021-01-12 02:17:35 UTC

Slaves were but that wasn’t the norm

2021-01-12 02:17:40 UTC

Ok but that’s even worse 😂. Not like that makes American slavery better... they’re both awful

2021-01-12 02:17:45 UTC

Also workers in factories got the same treatment

2021-01-12 02:18:02 UTC

THERES A REASON THAT CHANGED

2021-01-12 02:18:27 UTC

There’s no argument there from me. Factories were horrible places to work. At least they were based on money and not on melanin

2021-01-12 02:18:41 UTC

All I’m saying is southern slavery was tame and largely actually paternalistic

2021-01-12 02:19:00 UTC

So?

2021-01-12 02:19:05 UTC

Also I’d challenge the idea that mistreatment of slaves in the south wasn’t at the very least culturally benign

2021-01-12 02:19:43 UTC

I just meant it wasn’t race based. They’re both atrocious. 🤷‍♂️

2021-01-12 02:20:15 UTC

I guess we’ll have to agree to disagree on that one...

2021-01-12 02:20:42 UTC

Maybe in comparison to other forms of slavery, but not in comparison to how they should have been treated

2021-01-12 02:21:30 UTC

Slavery largely would have died out naturally in the 1890s which can’t be said the same for the horrible factory conditions that existed into the 20s.

2021-01-12 02:21:55 UTC

It was bad for working on a farm in the 80s as well

2021-01-12 02:22:07 UTC

we need more people in the VC

2021-01-12 02:22:11 UTC

Yeah but again, that has nothing to do with the morality of them.

2021-01-12 02:22:16 UTC

Pickin tobacco

2021-01-12 02:22:17 UTC

Not to mention the children working during the industrial revolution.

2021-01-12 02:22:27 UTC

Both systems had there problems and it ain’t right for southerners to be called out and have our culture butchered because of slavery

2021-01-12 02:22:41 UTC

Amen

2021-01-12 02:22:48 UTC

Many had arms torn off or died in accidents

2021-01-12 02:22:51 UTC

The phosy jaw girls, chimney sweep climbing boys, you name it.

2021-01-12 02:22:59 UTC

thats probably the first thing youve said that i agree with

2021-01-12 02:23:25 UTC

Technically most of Rome and other ancient nations also had slaves. Yet nobody argues we should blow up pyramids and Greek architecture
