I think the Drs running the boards of ownership care about lining their pockets and little else. There’s a fresh crop of nurses every year to fuck over.

It’s corrupt. Administration is trying to cash in on budget bonuses. And they view this as a short term emergency. The covid funds from the government are keeping the hospitals afloat. The profit side is the surgery side. But you can’t do surg without icu beds. No icu beds, no money. No staff. No beds. No money. It’s a vicious cycle. And a money pit. Drs are getting paid massive increases but nursing doesn’t get much more unless they “travel”. I work a lot of overtime and get “covid” incentive pay. 18 shifts a month, at night, = 130k for the year.

Drs just want to see as many patients a possible and bill as much as possible. Nurses drown. Quit.

Pay for new grads goes up. Experienced nurses don’t get raises.

That’s terrible. My husband was in the hospital for 2 weeks after a work accident where he had to be life flighted out. The nurses were amazing the entire time. Besides his surgeons, the other doctors didn’t remember him from one day to the next. The nurses didn’t forget a thing and went above and beyond. Definitely under appreciated

So experience leaves. New nurse, no experience takes over.

Under paid. Families have been great to us. Churches sent food for a few months. That has stopped. Families send food a lot. And cards.

I get hugs all the time from family members. That’s the most rewarding part of the job. But leadership doesn’t give a flying fuck.
