Autism has existed long before the last 70 years though. It's just becoming more prevalent because theirs more and more shit causing brain damage during gestation and early years of development. There's proven connections to autism and vaccination for one. I've also heard the rise in pollution of air, water, and food is a cause. But autism existed before vaccines, and before the industrial revolutions of the west, so who knows.

It is also heavily genetic, possibly also epigenetic
