It’s one of the best news organizations in the country

2021-01-05 19:27:25 UTC

And I trust their information in most cases

2021-01-05 19:27:33 UTC

Wait, so its a different rubric for the CBC?

2021-01-05 19:27:41 UTC

(I don’t like to look at opinion pieces)

2021-01-05 19:27:47 UTC

You can go look that up

2021-01-05 19:27:57 UTC

But I would consider the CBC to be very trustworthy

2021-01-05 19:28:30 UTC

So you judge by the articles and not who invest/runs it?

2021-01-05 19:29:21 UTC

State run media rarely gets praise here. But I guess there is a first for everything.

2021-01-05 19:31:56 UTC

I trust it because it’s backers aren’t tyrants or cultists

2021-01-05 19:32:20 UTC

I’m not too fond of our government but I still trust some information they put out there

........
"So the evidence from the research is clear. The BBC tends to reproduce a Conservative, Eurosceptic, pro-business version of the world, not a left-wing, anti-business agenda.
>>>>>>>>>>>
among other things, what is hliarious about this article is that most bbc followers are quite of the opposite specturm... imho

2021-01-05 19:35:15 UTC

Is you a dumb

2021-01-05 19:35:21 UTC

CBC not BBC

2021-01-05 19:35:24 UTC

Also

2021-01-05 19:35:29 UTC

I’m not surprised

2021-01-05 19:35:38 UTC

same difference

2021-01-05 19:35:44 UTC

It really isn’t

2021-01-05 19:35:48 UTC

Apples to oranges

2021-01-05 19:35:54 UTC

Is ABC the same too?

2021-01-05 19:35:58 UTC

Obviously not

2021-01-05 19:36:34 UTC

all singing from the same hymnal

2021-01-05 19:36:43 UTC

How?

2021-01-05 19:37:19 UTC

Different funding, different founders, different writers, different values, different nations, different continent, different audience

2021-01-05 19:37:30 UTC

lol

2021-01-05 19:37:43 UTC

So @ToxicTransgender the CBC board of directors are highly involved in media as board members or direct owners (ex: Edward W. Boyd and Michael Goldblume). Essentially there isn't competing media companies, since they all run the direction of state media. I think this would fall into that issue you were talking about.

2021-01-05 19:38:21 UTC

There are competing media companies in Canada tho

2021-01-05 19:38:26 UTC

Global News being one

2021-01-05 19:38:41 UTC

That funds TFI global btw

2021-01-05 19:38:52 UTC

CTV news being another

2021-01-05 19:39:06 UTC

I'm not saying they're arent, you have a situation where multi-billion dollar company is the arm of state media.

2021-01-05 19:39:06 UTC

TVA being another

2021-01-05 19:39:23 UTC

That’s with all/most media now

2021-01-05 19:39:37 UTC

If we going to discard Epoch times on a "poisonous" association, this seems like it would apply as well.

2021-01-05 19:39:58 UTC

Here is the CBC coverage of Tiannamen Square:
https://www.cbc.ca/player/play/2461675714

2021-01-05 19:40:02 UTC

Tell me what you think.

2021-01-05 19:40:13 UTC

Epoch Times is founded and funded by the Falun Gong, that is literally a cult

2021-01-05 19:40:44 UTC

The CBC is funded by the government but has no involvement in its daily operations

2021-01-05 19:40:49 UTC

There’s a difference

2021-01-05 19:41:06 UTC

Epoch times is made to talk shit about the Chinese

2021-01-05 19:41:20 UTC

The CBC is made to spread actual news around

2021-01-05 19:41:23 UTC

how does it not have involvement? The media is directly involved with the government. Since it is government funded.
