I think I need to buy thermal paste for it

2020-12-25 16:46:50 UTC

That’s cool

2020-12-25 16:47:09 UTC

I believe it comes with some already pre installed but I usually wipe it off and put artic mx5 down

2020-12-25 16:47:22 UTC

I've heard the stock paste factories use are not the best

2020-12-25 16:47:30 UTC

Yeah I’ll probably order some off of Newegg or something if I need too

2020-12-25 16:47:39 UTC

Same

2020-12-25 16:48:56 UTC

Yeah i have my CPU oc'd to 5ghz and no problems with the cooler. It never goes red warning me cpu is too hot so I'm happy with it

2020-12-25 16:49:19 UTC

Oh this is interesting

2020-12-25 16:49:34 UTC

RAM is supposed to be 3200 but it’s reading at 2400

2020-12-25 16:49:41 UTC

I’ll have to figure out how to change that

2020-12-25 16:50:15 UTC

Almost always in the bios but you should also check what speed your motherboard supports

2020-12-25 16:50:36 UTC

It supports 3200 that’s what it was before

2020-12-25 16:51:27 UTC

Hmm weird... Double check the newest ram you put in

2020-12-25 16:51:53 UTC

If it's a slower speed the motherboard usually throttles down all ram to match the lowest speed installed

2020-12-25 17:18:42 UTC

So I did some digging, it’s an HP Omen 30L, apparently you can’t get higher speed than 2400 on their Gaming prebuilts unless you buy it directly from HP (even though it’s HyperX RAM). Aka HP won’t let you upgrade it unless you give them your money instead of HyperX which I won’t be doing because that’s just retarded. Guess I’ll live with 2400

2020-12-25 17:22:34 UTC

Wtf

2020-12-25 17:22:41 UTC

I'd be pissed

2020-12-25 17:23:14 UTC

But id get over it relatively quick lol realistically you won't notice a difference

2020-12-25 17:24:26 UTC

That’s why I’m not dealing with that bs. I just do casual gaming and a bit of streaming to my discord server so it’s really not extremely important to me. It is bs though

2020-12-25 19:37:20 UTC

@DrewDaPilot Theoretically I see no problem with your 1800X, and your GPU solution depends on how hard you plan to push it

2020-12-25 19:37:29 UTC

ye

2020-12-25 19:37:31 UTC

well I need two gpus

2020-12-25 19:37:35 UTC

one for windows and one for linux

2020-12-25 19:37:44 UTC

the windows one tho, 1440p, preferably high settings

2020-12-25 19:37:53 UTC

the linux one can just be some $30 garbage amd card

2020-12-25 19:38:30 UTC

I can sell my 1050ti for around $400 if I package it with my old pc, and then I already have like $500 so I have money

2020-12-25 19:38:35 UTC

but I need a new mobo, psu and gpu

2020-12-25 19:38:51 UTC

ideally not spending every last drop of my money lol

2020-12-25 19:39:57 UTC

should I get a 5600xt?

2020-12-25 19:40:43 UTC

like is that going to be fast enough to play rust on at least medium settings

2020-12-25 19:55:54 UTC

I guess not all ultra at 1440p

2020-12-25 19:56:03 UTC

maybe I should go with a 5700xt to be safe

2020-12-25 19:56:37 UTC

Ehhh, I dunno. I have a 5500XT and it's only good for 1080p 30fps. Something like an RTX 2060 on discount would be my current reccommendation. I am still waiting for the non RTX cards to arrive from AyyMD and NoVideo

2020-12-25 19:56:43 UTC

2060

2020-12-25 19:56:49 UTC

is that good for 1440p all ultra 60fps?

2020-12-25 19:57:12 UTC

Might need a 2070 equivalent

2020-12-25 19:58:01 UTC

My older bro for example, runs 1080p 60fps almost maxxed out with a *1060 6gb* so I'd watch Nvidia cards

2020-12-25 19:58:38 UTC

aight

2020-12-25 19:59:03 UTC

but used could have been used for bitcoin mining?

2020-12-25 20:02:10 UTC

maybe yeah. if you can find an open box one (or similar) within your price range that would be ideal imo.
