Are you russian <@722152971831345152> ?
I see
Lake Redrock Iowa
Guys I need help identifying this
This is an original photo of the atomic bombing of Japan
My great grandpa sent it back home from a friend of his who was on a nearby plane
I'm not sure if it was the Hiroshima bombing or the Nagasaki bombing, although from other pictures it seems like its Nagasaki
This was written on the back
That's Hiroshima
Oh damn i didn't know, and im assuming the writing on the back gives the altitude and town the picture was taken over
Although I've never heard of a Nagorit, cant tell what the letters are
Hmmm
I doubt that's from a plane nearby, because the Enola Gay flew solo
It was a top secret mission, so I would assume
Maybe a fellow pilot from the aribase, and copies of the photo were circulated, idk
I doubt that's the original because there's already offical copies that have been filed
It can't be a copy, it looked like the photo was produced and everything. I have a ton of photos they used and reproduce from the same time period, and its obvious that the others were manufactured
This is the orginal
See same speck mark as your copy?
Also note the Enloa Gay's photograph of the explosion was everywhere after it shocked the world
So there are millioms of copies everywhere
I dont doubt that, I just think it doesn't seem like a reproduction because it looks like it was taken physically with an actual camera and produced
Idk, im not sure how old cameras worked
But i showed it to my grandparents who grew up using that type of equipment and they seemed fairly sure it was real
I'll never know tho lmao
Idk man I'm not a historian so just commenting based on my limmited knowledge from reading about the subject
I suggesr you take it to a real expert
Will be intersting
Yeah
It just feels real ig
It has thay reflective coating that alot of old pictures have on them to protect them after they've been produced
But that photo was in a little green envelope with another, slightly smaller picture of what looked like an air view of some city
All the other photos I have were in some old labeled envelope of a company that sold pictures of war back to the homeland
But those are bigger, and have a dull finish, and the paper feels more substantial
And they're all uniform size with subtitles describing each individual picture
