anyone else wish that CV-6 AKA the USS Enterprise was saved and turned into a museum ship instead of being scrapped?

2020-07-02 15:49:47 UTC

Yes

2020-07-02 15:49:52 UTC

She did so much

2020-07-02 15:50:04 UTC

it would have been awesome to be on the most battle tested and decorated ship in US navy history

2020-07-02 15:50:22 UTC

her track record is awesome to say the least

2020-07-02 15:50:40 UTC

the amount of capital and non capital ships she took down

2020-07-02 15:51:02 UTC

while taking part in like every major operation and engagement in the pacific

2020-07-02 15:51:20 UTC

being the only operational capital ship we had in the pacific at one point

2020-07-02 15:51:41 UTC

survived heavy damage nearly sinking only to pull through at least 3 times

2020-07-02 15:51:52 UTC

being the only ship in her class to survive the war

2020-07-02 15:52:06 UTC

the Enterprise was a badass ship

2020-07-02 15:52:22 UTC

shame that she got scrapped

2020-07-02 15:52:58 UTC

Still a better fate than getting nuked

2020-07-02 15:53:15 UTC

yeah RIP prinz eugen and all the other ships in that test

2020-07-02 15:53:32 UTC

didn't those ships get nuked twice or something?

2020-07-02 15:53:39 UTC

Some did

2020-07-02 15:54:51 UTC

damn

2020-07-02 15:55:41 UTC

i also think ships like KMS Bismarck,HMS Warspite,HMS Hood,USS Laffy were badass

2020-07-02 15:56:09 UTC

Alot of ships were nuked durikg hydrogen bomb testings, then some survived a few of the tests they were subjugated to, then purposefully shot afterwards

2020-07-02 15:56:50 UTC

USS Laffy (a destroyer) and her crew took on multiple enemy ships including the battleship IJN Hiei and put up a hell of a fight

2020-07-02 15:56:59 UTC

also the ships shouldn't have been nuked

2020-07-02 15:57:11 UTC

Yeah

2020-07-02 15:57:11 UTC

they should have been preserved cause they're a part of history

2020-07-02 15:57:52 UTC

imagine being on a destroyer and taking on a battleship along with a few cruisers alone with no support

2020-07-02 15:58:00 UTC

at night too

2020-07-02 15:58:24 UTC

Taffy 3

2020-07-02 15:58:27 UTC

But oh well, no one at the time really seen it important enough to preserve most of the shit from ww2, best we can do is build replica's

2020-07-02 15:58:37 UTC

yeah it kinda sucks

2020-07-02 15:59:05 UTC

i would be livid if someone was stupid enough to destroy the USS Constitution

2020-07-02 15:59:23 UTC

History is rarely thought of at the moment it happens, it usually is taken note of decades after it happens

2020-07-02 15:59:27 UTC

that ship is almost as old as the US itself

2020-07-02 15:59:30 UTC

yeah

2020-07-02 16:00:10 UTC

Its why so many P-51's and Sherman tanks qere scrapped afted they became redundant

2020-07-02 16:00:11 UTC

the USS Constitution is the only wind and sail Warship still afloat

2020-07-02 16:01:05 UTC

destroying it would be like if Russia destroyed the VMF Avora

2020-07-02 16:01:36 UTC

(one of the only pre-dreadnaught ships still in existence)

2020-07-02 16:02:57 UTC

it's also the oldest ship Russia has afloat it survived the battle of Fushima, the Reigns of both the Tsar and the USSR,the entirety of WW2 and the cold war right up until today

2020-07-02 16:03:31 UTC

i think she's a light cruiser

2020-07-02 16:03:32 UTC

Well, at least the USS Lexington is still around, oldest american carrier still in existence and was about as successful as the Enterprise, just not talked about much

2020-07-02 16:03:52 UTC

i thought the Lexington was sank at the battle of the coral sea?

2020-07-02 16:04:01 UTC

or am i thinking of a different Carrier
