if this was back then in ancient times what they would do is throw diseased corpses and seige the city of its resources if its now just use gas or something and also seige
And send the bois to do the rest.

@Kato here hows this: Time period is right after ww2 and just before korea
create a supply line and cut off the city of its resources and surround its entry points
Found exploitable weak spots in it, ie sewer system
any ideas as to how to deal with enemy resistance down there?
wdym where
i was refering to the sewers thing
o
as in how does he intend to deal with enemy resistance in the sewers
probably gas or some infiltration
could introduce disease down there too
ooh
this was back then so it wouldve been hard to combat (considering ww1 and ww2 had a lot of deaths from disease)
@ThiccSpicyGenderRevealParty then i would still bomb the wall and try as precisely as possible to bomb known enemy positions
And then send tanks and infantry to finish them off
yes **blitzkrieg** or something, do a bomb run then let in tanks (if its flat land) followedby infantrymen
aight
as for enemy reinforcements?
that depends this is all theoretical we dont have a map terrain explicitly written out
youd want to have your troops laid out in an effective formation for that type of senario
kudos to Dishonored for sending me the link
here's the city your trying to take, its defended by walls, enemy forces in the city itself and 3 smaller forts inside the city
its already been damaged by earlier bombing raids but the enemy has not pulled out yet
- surround the entry points (cut off their ability to obtain resources)
- secure the outside of the base with an effective battle formation
- create a supply line (make sure of a strategy in the case the enemy reinforcements attempts to cut it off)
optional: throwing diseased corpses into the base to introduce disease and to break them down mentally
after some time this should wear down defending troops inside, biologically, mentally, physically, defensively
begin attack
- bomb run the three forts & key defensive positions
- funnel in infantrymen
- throw hand grenades in their defensive positions, use gas on strong enemy positions surrounding the forts
also it depends on the city
in europe city roads were changed after the industrial revolution to adapt to massive troop mobilization when needed beforehand, roads were more narrow
map's above for reference
and for this situation we'll assume its in Europe
ok if the roads are wide enough tanks could be funneled in though that might imply that they might have tanks also
the tanks could be used as cover moving into the city for infantry men then too
Alright, that works with taking the out skirts and defensive walls of the city, now only 3 major problems remain, aka the three small forts inside the city, which for reference, we'll assume they're similar to Germany's Flak Towers
hm
well since air raids wont cut it for that troops would have to infiltrate it after they take out the defensive positions on the ground surrounding it during the assault into the city
draining them of their resources earlier should weaken all of the troops in the city beforehand
actually if you take control of the city first and the forts dont budge and create a stronghold they'll have to quit eventually being sitting ducks being surrounded
also this is all theoretical and tactic-based
all of it depends on the beginning strength of both sides to begin with
For the attackers, we'll just say their equipment and training is the equivalent of the average Soldiers of the time, and the defenders are, the equivalent of say, russian and/or german soldiers
The attackers at this point are around 15-20 km from the nearest supply depot, and the defenders are moderately starved and undermanned but have a good amount of weapons and munitions
also im looking at pics of flak towers and they look like its honeycombed to take fire on the sides but on the map the center looks like its open to a courtyard
