normally if it were at a actual production rate, the A-10 would be very cheap to repair because its design is very simple, but because it is no longer in production its just becoming more and more expensive
huh
damn
They're supposedly getting new wings
probably upgrading them for better load capacity for anti-ground weapons
I also heard that there were supposed to recieve the YA-10B Blackout Upgrade which made them stealth
It also can carry only the Maverick AGM missile. And nothing else
we most likely wont see most of the upgrades come to them till 2030 as well
I hope the YA-10B is real, we got the concept for it in Ace Combat 5 and Arma 3
i see until we get them we'll have to rely on good'ole naval firepower then
That being said I do expect a major overhaul of a majority of the fleet that won't be scrapped. Or retired
Oh that reminds me
the A-10's can carry more than Maverick's, they can carry a host of Rockets, Gun Pods, and JDaM 1,000 pound bombs
I foresee railguns being a very popular armament on Warships very soon
I know that. I didn't say it in my previous message but I mean as in the only precision guided AGM missile.
ah
> I foresee railguns being a very popular armament on Warships very soon
@ThiccSpicyGenderRevealParty They already are, its just software bugs and glitches that are being worked out
currently the Zumwalt is being fitted with Railguns as a replacement for its underfunded Smart cannon
also Gauss Guns are being considered as a next gen efficient upgrade to Railguns
When they enter widespread service, i assume they'll primarily be mounted on Carriers asides from ships like the Zumwalt and essentially turn the carriers into Modern Day Battleships
> any yall remember when Railguns popped up in the 80's and then disapeared for like 30 years?
@Zilla yup
Nah, Cruisers and DD's only
wtf is a gauss gun
too bulky for now
Gauss Guns are essentially Coil Guns, which operate on a similar principle to Railguns except they do not have a sabot carrier
> wtf is a gauss gun
@BitsBytes Similar to a Railgun except more efficient with timed electromagnets isntead of resistors
> Gauss Guns are essentially Coil Guns, which operate on a similar principle to Railguns except they do not have a sabot carrier
@Zilla Think the MACs from Halo
yeah
When that happens, when something "disappears" that means it didn't fail, that just means they do more secret development of it.
aka they're gonna use it
i think i know what you're talking about
Coilgun go uh boom
a primitive one, but yeah, thats essentially how it works
actually, i think i posted a video of some guys who made a working one chambered in .50 cal
as in the diameter of the round, not actual .50 cal ammunition
frankly i think the biggest issue concerning Coil Guns is that, due to not having a sabot carrier to assist in moving the projectile, the projectiles muzzle velocity is a fair bit lower, plus requires a great deal more of energy because it doesnt have a sabot carrier doing some of the moving
but it does allow for more rapid firing so that is an upside to it
I think we should use both, with coilguns arming the more frontline ships, and railguns being mounted behind the frontline for designated "sniper ships" and Carriers
